This converted stable offers self-contained, centrally heated accommodation in a quiet village only 3 miles from Guildford. Surrounded by endless beautiful walks and historical places, yet London’s convenient “Waterloo” railway station is only 40 minutes from Guildford’s main-line station.
Sorry, no pets and no smoking
Our aim is to make you welcome and to make your stay at the converted stable a pleasure, and satisfy your expectations. Up until 1989 the building was being used as a stable, and because the conversion sought to maintain the building’s original character, access is more limited than that of a purpose built accommodation.
We ask you not to smoke in the building. The grassed area of the garden is shared with Juniper Cottage (including our large but very friendly black Labrador).
Mobile phone signals are generally good.
WiFi connection to BT Infinity 2 super fast fibre broadband is available and free.
There is a bus stop at the end of the road with three buses an hour to and from Guildford. From Guildford there is an excellent fast service to London Waterloo station (40 mins) and Portsmouth in the opposite direction.
The village with two food stores and two pubs is 6-8 minutes walk and there are large supermarkets at Guildford and Godalming.
There is no off-street parking but Eastwood road is a quiet cul-de-sac and there is mostly easy parking adjacent to Juniper Cottage.
Finally, If you do not like quietness, apart from the occasional hoot of an owl at night,
this is probably not the place for you!
Access to the Stable is through a five-bar gate to the side of Juniper Cottage and 20 meters along a level drive of stone chippings.
There is one 23cm step into the building which has standard width doors throughout. The upstairs bedroom is accessed by a spiral staircase. NB there is no door to this bedroom for privacy /sound from the living room (which has a single bed) below. This upstairs bedroom has been converted from the original hayloft and as such has restricted access: The double bed is set low (28cm to top of mattress) for this reason.
In the kitchen there is a 4 plate gas hob and an eye level microwave/oven.
The lobby has a washing machine and tumble dryer.
The washroom has no bath but a wash basin and shower with step over access (30 cm), and toilet.
We try always to help directly or by email/phone with any issues that may occur or with directions for walks etc., but try to maintain guest's privacy whenever possible.
Fridge/Freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer
My wife, Jenny, and I are retired and live with our Jack Russell dog, Maisie, at Juniper Cottage. We converted the stable in 1993 when our daughter's passion for her pony gave way to study and boys. We have been offering self-contained accommodation since 1997 when we were rated as 3 star by the English Tourist Board.
