Dhananjaya and his family are were friendly and helpful people. The room is simple and comfy with a stunning view. Dhananjayas mother cooked really nice dinner for us. when we left early they also packed us really nice breakfast.
Dhananjaya was an excellent host. He was very efficient and helped us organise a day out to Ella Rock, Little Adam's Peak and Nine Arches Bridge. He also organised our transfer to Yala National Park, via a safari at Udawalawe (highly recommend). The place was comfortable and clean and the breakfast was great. Definitely recommend!
This is currently a very small homestay (only one room) but has plans to expand. The welcome and service we received throughout our stay was great. The food in particular is excellent, just as good as anything else we tried in Sri Lanka and was lovingly prepared by the Mother. Definitely ask for a dinner if you stay here as you will receive a very wide range of dishes for a very fair price. The room itself is very large and well decorated with a very good wall fan (AC not really essential up in Ella but a good fan still necessary). The only slight issue for us was the location. Whilst being out of the town is preferable as it is quieter, this is a 15 minute walk into town (or a £1.50 tuk tuk) which gets a bit boring after the 2nd or 3rd trip of the day. On balance though, i'd say this is a good place to stay if visiting Ella.
dhananjaya and his family work hard to ensure that visitors have a pleasant stag. The food is excellent and plentiful and they went out of their way to accommodate our late arrival with dinner when our train was delayed. Very kind. The place is very clean and looks just like the pictures. Our only real issue was the lack of ac, which was a determining factor for us in staying here. The facilities are still under construction so it should only get better. The room is finished but they are working on the kitchen area - although it is already nice. We had some spotty wifi but I think that is typical in Ella - and the family was quick to try to resolve when we mentioned it. While you can walk to Ella along the railway tracks, it becomes very dark after 6;30 and made us uncomfortable given our lack of knowledge of the area and train schedules. A tuk tuk is quickly available and costs under 250 SLR.
Paraiso is truly an amazing place. Waking up to the beautiful vista of Ella gap followed by a delicious home cooked breakfast was delightful. Dhananjaya took great care of us, arranged transportation and enlightened us with some local knowledge. Highly recommended.
Very nice place, clean, new, nice and cosy. Nice view and excellent cook for breakfast and dinner. Highly recommended!
