We've completely renovated the Craney House into a comfortable place with character—good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families (with kids). We affectionately call it our "tree house" because of the jungle that used to obscure the house. Otter Creek is an ideal location to access much of what Acadia has to offer—close to the Park Loop Road, carriage trails and other hiking trails. It is also only about 5 miles away from Bar Harbor, and 10 minutes to Seal Harbor.
We can be around if you'd like, or make ourselves scarce if you please. Do let us know.
The house is constantly evolving to fit our and our guest needs. If we make any changes, it should be for the better, but If there is something specific that you want to make sure will be exactly as we have originally listed, please let us know that before booking. If you have any questions—including whether or not we can accommodate you—please inquire.
- Suitable for supervised children. If you need a baby gate for the stairs, let us know. Also, please note deck is not enclosed. Please note we are still working on some finishing touches so by the time you arrive, there may be a few changes. Also, the back yard beyond the deck isn't "off limits", but please be aware that we may still have some construction materials and equipment in that area. The attic space is off limits and the basement is mostly off limits except in an emergency to access systems or supplies.
Please also read our House Manual--sorry it's so long!
Check in is after 3 p.m. and Checkout is by 10 a.m.
It'd be very helpful if you would strip the beds and place those and used towels on the floor in the bathroom. We expect most other used items will be as you found them (dishwasher started before you go). Thank you!
I moved to Maine in 2007 with my partner, Izaak, who you will likely be dealing with as well. I'm originally from California, but he is a Mainer. It's a challenge to re-build an old house, but we have fun doing it and we like that the end result is a house with character. We love to travel, but haven't been able to get away much so we hope to hear about your adventures! We love to take our young daughter to bike the carriage trails and hike the trails when we get a chance and go sledding, snowshoeing, skiing and snowboarding in the winter. We also love good food and good company and love the fact that our daughter does too. I'm hapa and though it gets rusty, my Japanese comes back to me.
