Very private home on 3 fenced acres is great for families or the solitary traveler and bring your big furry friends! Enjoy country living while being very close to world class restaurants, galleries, museums, 17 minutes to the Plaza, 30 min to the ski slopes, remote mountain hiking, fabulous fishing, take memorable historical day trips and you have the best of both worlds. Recently fully remodeled, it contains new appliances, fixtures, service ware along with all the traditional Santa Fe style.
Relax and feel as though you are living outside when you are inside because of the endless windows. It is warm in winter with a Catalytic Converter Blaze King Wood Burning Stove in the Solarium Bedroom, wood stove in the middle bedroom and new energy efficient baseboards in the other rooms. Because of the Artisan-worked Venetian plastered walls and interior insulation as well as max insulation for the exterior walls it stays warm and toasty in the winter. In the summer it is cool and breezy with so many windows, 5 ceiling fans throughout, and mostly constant mountain breezes. Remember a sweater for summer evenings though when it is usually chilly.
Every room, the front deck and the outside seating areas make it great for entertaining, playing games with the kids or reading a book and just relaxing to the gentle swoosh of the pines. Depending on the time of year you visit, various natural plants will be in bloom and of course, in the months from Dec-April it is mostly a winter wonderland, perfect for skiers since it is 30 min to Santa Fe Skiing and about an hour and a half to Taos ski basin.
All-wheel or 4x4 drive is the best plan for the property as the snow can pile up to several feet from time to time here in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains even when downtown Santa Fe (15 min away) is nearly dry!
Absolutely, No Smoking inside and fire-cautious if done outside and always clean after yourself. Events only with prior approval of owner.
Detailed directions will provided as your stay approaches.
The whole property including storage shed for tack, ski or other equipment is available to you. Please do explore! It is wilderness so use appropriate caution. Small dogs should be kept under watchful eye - coyotes are in the neighborhood along with other predators. The cactus this desert is known for, has both beautiful bountiful blooms in the spring/summer and miserable thorny stickers year around. Wear proper footwear when walking off the road that circles the property.
I will try my best to make your stay memorable and enjoyable. I leave you to enjoy your privacy. In fact, you probably won't ever see me. But don't worry! Should you find you need anything to improve your visit, I will be right there to assist.
Please do bring your big dogs! We have a Great Pyrenees dog and she loves it when we are there!! The fences are not high enough to keep a jumper from getting over, though, so be sure you are aware and take precautions to keep your pet secure! You don't want her/him to get lost! Everyone on nearby horse ranches has dogs so you and your dogs will be right at home. Also, the floors inside are brick and made for dogs!
