El Médano was a really great place to stay for a trip to Tenerife. It has everything that you could want, lovely beaches, a good choice of shops and restaurants and close to the motorway and airport. We did see the planes going over, but they weren't intrusive at all. It took about 10 minutes to drive there from the airport.
The apartment was as described. My husband was shown around by Blas's sister while I was finding somewhere to park the car, but unfortunately he speaks no Spanish and she spoke no English, so we weren't really sure what she had shown him. This meant that we didn't realise that the password for the internet was in a dish on a piece of paper, but I messaged Blas and he got straight back to me to let me know it. I didn't meet Blas or his sister as I couldn't get into the apartment until my husband came and let me in, after she had left.
The apartment had a very secure parking spot in the basement, which was ideal for our hire car, and kept the car cool. It was in a great spot, easy to walk to the beach, restaurants and shops, in a quiet area so no disturbances.
The kitchen equipment was basic: there wasn't a knife for cutting food, just table knives, but the kitchen itself had a good oven, hob and microwave. We didn't use the washing machine.
The bedroom is an inner room, so the only window opens into the building, and it was too hot and airless for us, but we slept on the bed-settee in the sitting room, with the patio doors open, and that was fine.
The balcony was small, but it was nice to have some outside space.
Overall, it felt like good value for money, with a good location, parking, free internet and everything that we needed.
