As of this writing, Melissa's farm is far beyond expectation. It is a pleasant place to stay, a working farm and terrific hostess. When you book this property, keep in mind that it is a working farm. That means occasional dust, animals all around the property and two lovely, friendly dogs. My daughters and I got to do two rounds of chores with Melissa, feeding the animals and milking the goats. It was terrific and we can't wait to go back. Enjoy the literally farm-fresh eggs and the amazing varieties of honey prepared on site. Great visit, great value.
For anyone wanting a completely organic and authentic farm life stay, from early rising and doing chores, brushing horses, milking goats, etc. etc. this is the real deal! If you want a hotel feel, this is not the place for you. If you want to stay like you live on a farm, I would give this 7 stars! My wife and daughter stayed through the day while I worked locally and this was so relaxing to come back to! Such a great adventure! Thank you Melissa!!!
We had a great stay with Melissa. She took the time to not only give us a tour of her farm, but we fed the animals, milked the goats, made homemade goats milk cheese and had a honey tasting. Melissa was great at explaining the ins and outs of everything to us and our two kids ages 13 and 15. There is no wifi, which was great to have the family "unplugged" for 24 hours. We would most definitely stay again if in the area.
This is a trip back in time to simpler times. The landscape and vintage home are charming and real, like the host. The floors were wonderfully squeaky. The quilts old and real. The host gracious and warm. It was like visiting family in the country even though I was only there 12 hours, just passing through. The house is a work in progress, but whose isn't? This is place worth going back for several days just to unwind from the hustle and bustle of life. A real animal lover's paradise.
Melissa does an amazing job tending to her many farm animals, her bee hives and tending to her 1905 farm house and barn. Her dogs are very friendly and sleep in the house. We love being around all kinds of animals and she certainly has a large variety. Melissa keeps brushing the dogs but dogs shed. It doesn't bother us. We are used to having animals in the house. They were an extra bonus for us! She served a wonderful breakfast casserole made with her chicken's eggs and fresh fruit. Yum! Thanks for a relaxing weekend! We'll be back.
This is a working hobby farm that is super fun if you are an animal lover. Melissa is an amazing host and is a fantastic teacher. The house has some very interesting history. I have a family of four with two teenagers and they just loved it. Melissa let the kids make cheese showed us how to make honey, let us milk the goats. This is more that just staying at someones house it is an experience.
Melissa's farm was an amazing experience for the whole family but specially for my two boys. We loved all the animals, the eggs, honey, milking the goats, cats, horses, dogs and all the nature around. Melissa is very sweet and we even learned how to make cheese. Breakfast were fabulous. If you like animals, farms, quite atmospheres and beautiful views this is the place to stay.
