Unfortunately at this time of year, when the temperatures outside get cold, the mice will tend to migrate into warmer places. This is common in the area in houses and cottages in the early spring and fall. We do our best to control it but it's part of being in this area surrounded by trees, brush and nature! We do not charge cleaning fees and most guests have been good to clean up after themselves. When we arrived to check the cottage between guests today we found dirty dishes, counters and table. We cleaned all, but this will invite pests :(
I checked the fuses and one was loose but it has been working all summer (which was a cool summer). Not sure what went wrong but it is working today! We extend the season for those wanting to experience Muskoka and have reduced prices during the shoulder seasons.
The cottage is as listed: a rustic family cottage. It should not be compared to a newer city house or condo. It has character and creaks a bit which is part of the fun of experiencing Muskoka like people did in the '60's and 70's, right??
We encourage Kerin to book again next year during the summer months or early September to get a better experience :).
