The Fortescue Inn is situated brilliantly in the centre of Salcombe, and my brand new refurbished room overlooked the busy Fore Street from a window seat. A very modern en-suite room, with designer touches (Egyptian Cotton, Dyson bladeless fan, Nespresso Coffee maker, satellite TV) David's team are warm, welcoming and easy going, and the chefs prepare the most delicious breakfasts and dinners - special mention for the Ribeye steak, but the Stone Baked pizzas are equally wonderful in a busy and lively bar. It could be noisy early morning but mainly due to local building/renovations which will soon be completed. I'd definitely recommend staying here as it’s on the flat waterfront, easy to use the complimentary Parking Permit (10 minute stroll back to the car), and then enjoy the convenient locality for waterside bustle with shops, pubs, and the harbour only a few steps away (try catching crabs in a bucket). Extremely enjoyable 3 night stay.
