Mr. Zhou's place is very new and clean. There are two kinds of rooms, including hotel-style (most of the rooms) and hostel style, where we stayed. The room has four bunk beds with very firm mattresses. The hotel-style rooms have softer mattresses. Everything works as expected -- AC, fridge, large screen TV, bathroom. Our family of 7 rented out the room for 8 people. One of Green Island's snorkeling locations is across the road (Chaikou). If you rent snorkeling gear in town (300 per day), you could do a lot of snorkeling there. The coral reef is amazing! And, you can just walk out to it. It is a good idea to go at least once with a guide (300 per trip), so you can be more aware of the wave issues. Mr. Zhou is very casual and laid-back. He met us at the dock with a sign for his hostel, and drove us to his place. Because we have small children, and because his van was not in use during the trip, he let us borrow his van to tour around the island. Be aware that the place is not within easy walking distance of restaurants and shops, and that breakfast is not served, so you should prepare accordingly the night before. There was a refrigerator in the room, so it was easy to store food for the morning. There is a bathroom in the public use area with a shower, so if your own room's bathroom is in use you can have another option. Mr. Zhou also operates a scuba school, which is on the same premises.
