My place is close to the beach, great views, family-friendly activities, and restaurants and dining. You’ll love my place because of the outdoors space and the kitchen. My place is good for couples and families (with kids).
The house was a good size, the beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. Nefyn beach is a short walk away and is stunning and quiet. There are also lovely walks along the coastal path. It was really good to have Andy's recommendations of places to eat etc. We had a take away curry from Bombay Joe's in the village which was delicious. Downsides were the parking (we couldn't get parked on the street when we first arrived and never managed to get a spot outside the house which was a bit awkward at times with a toddler and dogs), the shower (as mentioned in previous reviews - not unmanageable though and the bath is a good size) and the garden (very steep steps up to it and in need of some attention). There were also a few things listed as being at the house which we failed to locate (dvds, maps, picnic blanket) which was a shame as we would have taken them with us. We also couldn't get the gas fire to light which would have nice to take the chill off in the evenings. If you're coming with a baby / toddler you need more than one stair gate as there are some very steep, open-sided stairs from the landing into an attic bedroom. Overall we had a lovely week. It really is a great location and although the house isn't exactly luxurious, it doesn't claim to be and it met our needs for the week.
We stayed for 5 nights at Andy's house with our 2 children (3yrs and 3months old). The house was bigger than we had expected from the photos, especially the downstairs area which was perfect for cooking and eating together. The kitchen is a great size and well equipped. The washing machine and tumble dryer were really useful and a nice touch. The outdoor space is limited. The bedrooms are a decent size and lots of storage. The bathroom is big and we had read previous reviews about the shower, so knew what to expect. Andy's super helpful instructions pre-arrival covered everything we needed to know about the house and local area. Made a real difference to our stay having such recommendations on places to go and eat. Nefyn is a great base for exploring the Llyn Peninsula and we'd highly recommend this cottage for any couple or young family wanting to holiday in this stunning area.
Great little cottage in Nefyn. Roomier downstairs living and kitchen than others we've stayed in in the village. Bathroom and kitchen good size also and well equipped. Lovely towels and comfy beds. Lovely little outdoor space you can sit and eat and catch the evening sun. Very steep steps up to it if you are impaired or little. Down sides are that the road outside can be a little noisy- but with the sea air we were all sound asleep no matter! And the kids were in the back room which was lovely and quiet. There is no pavement on the road outside so walking up the road and to the car with kids requires supervision. There is however a little railed off area outside the front door which is gated, so you can have the front door open without kids/dog getting run over. We also let the baby sleep on this bit in the pram one morning and we could sit inside directly watching him through the window. There is a shower, which has good power and heat, but there is no shower screen (it's over the bath) and it's under a slanted roof, so unless you are under 5 foot you can't stand under it. But you can use it to wash kids and we found sitting in the bath worked well enough although it was the one put off for my husband who loves his showers especially after a day at the beach! There is a good sized bath which is brilliant for the kids, which a lot of the smaller cottages in Nefyn can't fit. It's a very easy and pleasant walk to the top of screw road to access the wonderful bay which is fabulous for families. If you have babies/toddler you need to take everything, especially do take a stair gate. We would definitely recommend the cottage and if my husband can put up with the shower we would come again with our 3 young children if Andy will have us. Thanks Andy!
We had a great few days on the Lleyn peninsula using the cottage at Nefyn as our base. It's situated on the main street through the village but is within close walking distance of the beautiful beach. The cottage was very clean and well equipped. The bed was so comfortable and the quality of bed linen supplied was top notch. Recommendations for eating nearby would be Bombay Joe's Indian (eat in or takeway), just up the road and the Nanhoran Arms, just around the corner. Andy provided comprehensive notes to help us enjoy our visit to the area which was really useful. Just a couple of things to note: If you are tall (or any bigger than quite small!), you will struggle to fit under the shower as the bathroom has a sloping ceiling! Also, as the cottage is on the main street through the village it could be a little noisy early in the morning (work traffic) and evening. The farmers were collecting in the hay whilst we were there and their tractors thundered past the cottage! Just a minor inconvenience as the cottage is great base for exploring the Lleyn.
