The stone cottage, which was modernized in 2002 is situated in the very authentic village of Kounoupitsa at an altitude of 120 meters on the vulcanic peninsula of Methana. It is placed in a large garden with rocks and very old huge olive trees. From its terrace one has a fascinating view of the islands in the Saronic Gulf. It is situated 1,5km from the sea and not more than 3km from various beeches.
The house consists of two bedrooms, a dining kitchen zone, a saloon with a fire place and another bed for two persons and two bathrooms. The kitchen is well equipped and has a dish washer. There is place for eight persons at the dining table. Heat pump with climatisation, satellite TV, telephone with WiFi are available. Round the house and on the three terraces there are various resting places. The charming architecture, the individual eqipment and furniture, as well as the beautiful garden guarantee calm and beautiful holidays for couples, families with kids and even pets.
The guests are free to use the complete house with its equipment, the terraces and the garden
We unsually do not stay at Kounoupitsa when we have guests, but we may be connected, if there are any problems.
Kounoupitsa has no shops, three times per week a van stops on the village square with bread, milk and the most necessary food stuff. In the littel town of Methana (11km) there you can find all sort of shops. Fresh fish can be achieved nearly every day between 10h and 12h directly from the fishermen´s boat at Methana. Methana also provides strong sulfur and radon baths.
There are charming taverns along the seaside at Ag. Nikolaos and Ag. Georgios.
I have been married for 50 years to my Greek wife Panagiota Kourbeti. When I retired from my position as chief of the research department at Goethe-Institut I settled partly in Greece and achieved Villa Galini at Kounoupitsa, where I spend a great part of the year writing articles and books on Greek civilization. I am also a friend of good Greek food and wine.
