Seaview Cottage is 2 mins walk to the beach, funky seaside cafés, public transport, Kapiti Island native bird sanctuary pick-up point, shops & more. You’ll love the handy location, views, privacy & sun. It's perfect for travellers looking for a quiet inspirational beach-side retreat, those visiting Kapiti Island early the next morning (leave your car in our carport while you're there!), or Wellingtonians looking for a weekend break away from the city – it's just 45 mins door-to-door.
A delightful 1930s character cottage overlooking the sea and Kapiti Island, with art deco features, varnished wooden floors and buckets of charm. The cottage is a modest size but has a good-sized lounge and two smaller living areas. The guest bedroom and other bedrooms are at opposite ends of the house which adds to privacy. The large guest bedroom is sunny and has a sea view, art deco features, and French doors that open out onto the deck. The house has good heating, and gets all-day sun in summer and plenty in winter too. The private deck overlooks the sea and Kapiti Island, and is sheltered and sunny, with tui (beautiful native birds) that sing to you from the large garden tree, which also provides welcome shade in summer. The cottage has recently been renovated, in keeping with the character of the house, and has a modern kitchen and bathroom, with a really good shower.

We respect your privacy, but are open to chats and company if that's what you prefer. We love learning about new cultures and meeting new people, and are very happy to help or advise with things relating to your stay or holiday.
There is a parking space for guests in our driveway or carport. Part of the driveway has a steep incline so if you have a low sports car it would be better to park in the flat area of the driveway, immediately before the steep incline. Please note, if you have a big car don't attempt a 3 point turn into the carport at the top of the driveway as there was one incidence of a large car getting stuck. Walk/drive up, go through the carport, and then there is a 15-metre path up to the house, with 12 steps and a handrail all the way up to the front door.
The cottage has WiFi but it is not unlimited so please limit usage to 3GB per day. Previously the signal was weak in the guest room but the modem has now been moved to improve it.
There is plenty to see and do both in Kapiti and Wellington and information pamphlets are available in your room to give you lots of ideas. We are happy to suggest ideas and help where possible as well. Free tea and coffee is provided for you.
We do not offer breakfast but the local cafés offer exciting breakfast and brunch possibilities especially after a refreshing morning walk along the beach. There are no fewer than 25 cafés and eateries within 5 minutes walk of Seaview Cottage, and many more in the neighbouring villages and in Paraparaumu centre. You could sample a different one every day !
