La Retraite is a classic "colombage" cottage, fully modernized and renovated to provide all the comforts of home. This 18th century converted barn is located on a quiet country road surrounded by the hills and farms of the Pays d'Auge.
For centuries, La Retraite was used as a barn and as a cider press. My father bought it in the 1980s and it has been my getaway ever since. It is cozy, inviting and complete with all the modern facilities you need. Settled in a bucolic valley in the heart of the Pays D'Auge, La Retraite is a perfect retreat, but also a place to launch a thorough exploration of Normandy's rich history (not to mention cider and cheese!) Enjoy winters by the wood stove or summers on the sunny patio with a view of the countryside.
Guests are invited to make themselves at home at La Retraite. The caretaker, Paul, is available 24 hours and lives nearby.
Paul will meet you at the La Retraite and show you the facilities.
While the area is serviced by public transportation, visitors will be most independent with a car or bicycles. There is plenty of private parking within the gate
