Hadji and Fatma are our on site house and garden staff. Happy to help with food preparations and supply trips into the village. Mr Songa our night watchman is looks after the grounds during the night.
The cottages are nestled 5 minutes drive from the tiny village of Yale Yale Puna. The views are magnificent, bird life wonderful. There is a private stretch of white sand beach adjacent to the mangroves immediately below the cliff, lovely long walks to a secluded lagoon, spectacular sunrises every morning. Yale Puna is fairly remote, please remember to bring all you need with you.
- Currently there is is only cold water in the bathrooms but most of the year the water, warmed by the sun, is a perfect temperature for showers after a hot day at the beach.
- Fatma and Hadji look after the houses for us and are there to help make your stay as comfortable and you require. We ask that if you are happy with everything please do tip them for their services.
- The nearest shops for basic food and water is Yale Yale Puna village, a 10 minute walk from the house. Please bear in mind that these 'duka's only supply the very basics. Kimbiji , the next village north has a better selection of fruits and vegetables and dry foods. The nearest supermarket is back near the ferry terminal. Stock up with what you really need in Dar, before you set off.
- The cottages are lighted with solar power. The fridge and cooker both run on gas.
I have lived in Dar for many years and have seen it change from a village to a city! As an ex professional dancer, I still love to dance and act in the theatre. A passionate reader and collector of books has extended to owning my own bookshops.
I also love to cook, practice yoga, ride on the back of a Harley, sail on boats...
I love all style of travel and love to host airbnb guests who always seem the most unpredictable and interesting of people.
Keep your chin and smile up in the face of adversity!
