My place is close to public transport and family-friendly activities. You’ll love my place because of the location.
This room has an outdoor kitchenette with two burner propane hob, gas freezer (it is really cold) and wash up on the verandah overlooking jungle. The bathroom with shower, hand basin and toilet is adjacent but not attached to the cabana, less than 10 yards away. The bed is comfortable and the wooden shutters all around with the high peaked thatch roof keep it cool.
The restaurant and bar are close by. Wifi access is available here. Guests have full access to all the trails, creeks and swimming pool when it is open. We have a small book exchange in the main house. Various board games, a mini pool table, table tennis, badminton, volley ball and boule are available to all our guests - just ask. We even have a croquet set!
Owner Kevin is always on site, or in his absence a stand in manager is here. Restaurant opens for meals when pre-arranged.
The property is an organic cacao farm and we will be happy to arrange a traditional chocolate making demonstration for you as well as a tour of the fermenting and drying shed and cacao plantation.
Many other medicinal plants are grown here and we also have a very interesting permaculture garden.
Birdwatchers love the various habitats on the property and we can arrange an excellent bird guide to accompny keen birders and introduce new birders to the many different species commonly seen here.
We love our big dogs - all four of them, and our tiny cat who rules over them. They will be the first to meet you on arrival and will lead you back to the house if you take them with you on walks. Our turkeys roam around freely and sometimes take a stroll through the front garden, We are off the grid and power is supplied by generator which is run for a few hours a day, and solar panels charge batteries for lights at night. We are in the jungle and sometimes our visitors have more than two legs!
I manage a busy yacht charter operation and am co-owner of The Farm Inn, an organic chocolate farm with a guesthouse and restaurant, which is run by my husband Kevin, who lives on the farm. We sailed our own yacht from South Africa to the Caribbean with our children who are now adults with their own families. We have been working in the hospitality industry for 15 years and enjoy meeting people from all walks of life and introducing them to the beauty of southern Belize. We love the simple life, being at one with nature and keeping it real. Kevin is very practical and loves the farming aspect of our business, learning daily from the Mayan people around us. I love birding and generally spend my days at The Farm Inn with binoculars glued to my face and a reference book in hand.
We like people who are interested in everything around them, who join in and who understand that "off the grid" means no air conditioning and slow internet service to no internet service at times. We love dogs and have four big friendly dogs who are part of the family, so expect our guests to acept their presence
