While the yurts are cool … the straw bale day lodge is probably unlike anything you have seen before! The 3,500 sq. ft. day lodge is the first permitted straw bale structure in Columbia County’s history. Our "Hearty" breakfast is served each morning ($10 pp) in the lodge from 7:00 - 9:00 am. Complimentary coffee is available each morning. Access to the lodge is also available during the hours of 7:00 am to 8:00 pm for such things as using the sink, refrigerator, filtered water, hot pot, etc.
The large log pavilion between the pond and lodge is also a place you will want to hang out. Relax in a hanging chair in the pavilion or in a comfortable chair on the floating dock. We have plenty of tables and chairs for eating meals, playing games etc. We provide the following games: bean bag toss, bocce ball and giant jinga. Board games are available as well (Scrabble, chess etc.) Use your handheld device to connect wirelessly to free wifi and bluetooth speakers in yurts and pavilion area.
At night if you would like to have a camp fire we will light one up in the community fire pit near the yurt.
If you haven’t ridden the Banks-Vernonia State Trail before … add this to your bucket list! The BV Trail as it is called is truly one of the best “rails to trails” bike trails in the U.S. The trail dissects the Vernonia Springs property so access is several hundred feet from the main gate. We are now renting awesome comfort cruiser bikes that will make your ride through the rain forest a breeze! A perfect ride is to head north on the trail 6 miles into downtown Vernonia. The total round trip distance is 12-14 miles. If you want more of a challenge head south on the trail towards Stub Stewart State Park which is 4 miles up the bike trail and 15 miles to the trail head at the city of Banks. Stub Stewart State Park has an awesome Frisbee golf course as well as a stellar mountain biking trail complex for all skill levels.
Besides the Banks-Vernonia Trail ... we also have miles of nature trails on the property for you to enjoy.
Beaver Creek runs through the property and is home to rainbow trout and spawning salmon in the fall. It is an amazing site to see these large fish in six inches of water!
The City of Vernonia has a good market, gas station, hardware store, several bars, restaurants and golf course. There is also a really well done timber museum which is worth visiting.
Cannon Beach and Seaside are less than an hour away by car and worth visiting for sure. Portland is only 45 minutes.
We are available to chat for any reason while you are here. Text, email or come see us if you have any questions during your stay. For more information regarding Vernonia Springs, please visit our web site. We look forward to meeting you! Jeff & Julie
No shoes allowed in yurts or tents (place shoes on inside mat). Please abide by this rule so we can keep the yurts and tents clean for all guests. Quiet hours are between 10 pm and 7 am. For arrivals after 8 pm arrangements need to be made in advance due to gate closing at 8 pm.
We are huge pet lovers and have a golden lab named Drake. While we love pets ... not everyone does! We only allow one dog under 50 lbs. (we will consider exceptions). Dogs are only allowed in the Chinook yurt only without exception. Pit bulls mixes of any kind are not allowed. So that we can maintain the highest level of cleanliness for all guests ... we charge a $10 per night, per dog cleaning fee. Please let us know at the time of booking you will be bringing your dog and we will create the additional charge after booking. If you are bringing a pet ... please keep them on a leash while on the property and bike trail and clean up after them. Pets are not allowed on any furniture (including bed) and are not allowed in the day lodge. If your dog is wet please don't allow them inside until they are clean and dry. Dogs are not allowed to be be left unattended in the yurts or tents. Barking is not allowed per Columbia County noise ordinance. If you have a dog that tends to bark at sounds at night ... it would be best not to bring them so you don't disturb other guests. We need to ensure that our other guests have a great time while they are here too ... barking dogs lead to a poor experience.
