Serenity in the city: Quiet, bright, spacious, safe, clean, full-floor 1 bedroom with 8 large windows on 3 sides. Approximately 1,000 square feet with 10' ceilings, one flight up. Original hardwood floors, soundproof windows. 1.5 baths (6' bear claw tub), full kitchen, washer/dryer, wifi, a/c, 3 ceiling fans, even a hammock. 2 blocks from 2nd Avenue F train, 7 blocks from B/D/F/6 trains at Broadway-Lafayette. Minutes from restaurants, shops, art, culture, all the reasons you come to New York.
I converted this former 3-bedroom apartment into a 1-bedroom to create a spacious and quiet haven in the city. Soundproof windows keep the street side of the floor-through peaceful, and the silent tenants of the historic New York City Marble Cemetery outside the garden side of the floor assure your rest (and a serene view of trees, lawn, and plenty of birds). If you saw the 2015 Jake Gyllenhaal film "Demolition", then you'll recognize the cemetery from the funeral scenes!
Within the walls are all the unwinding creature comforts you seek, including a 6' bear-claw tub in the master bath and the option to use the hammock in the open studio area before calling it a night in the queen-size bed.
- New York can be celebratory and then some - but please keep the party outside. No loud celebrations and no loud music. No guests beyond you. This is a lovely home, and your keeping it as wonderful as when you arrived is greatly appreciated. Thank you for watering the plants each morning. $50 replacement fee for any lost keys. Thank you for respecting your neighbors while enjoying the home.
Photographer, surfer, lover of arts and culture. I'm from South Florida, but also I've spent (and loved) quality time in Germany, my mother's country. Thrilled to call the greatest city in the world home. Ever dynamic, ever newly-discoverable, ever magical. So many of my loves - literature, music, dance, film, and, yes, surfing - are right outside my door. I've lived a dream life for some time, having visited 24 countries so far, surfed some of the most beautiful of nature's gifts, and photographed incredible human beings from around the world (with a few known names and faces photographed in my home).
