Surrounded by spectacular scenery in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mtns, 1 hour to DC. There’s so much to do--wineries, craft brewers, horse rides, AT hiking, Shenandoah tubing, Civil War sites. Great for wedding guests from The Stable at Bluemont Vineyard (our neighbors), or a few days of respite or longer stays while house hunting, job training, etc. You’ll have a bedroom, family room, full kitchen, plus dining room/study. Private entrance & patio at the lower level of hosts’ own home.
You'll feel right at home in this sunny 4-room flat with a full kitchen, cozy bedroom, and plenty of table space for meals and projects. Spend a day inside, where you'll find books, games, DVDs, and a 55" TV, or walk the grounds and enjoy the horses and mountain views. Walk just a bit farther to the old stone church nearby where you'll find headstones dating back before the Civil War. Drive just five minutes away to marvel at the views from Bluemont Vineyard or Dirt Farm Brewery. Bring your bike and ride on miles of scenic gravel roads without hardly seeing any cars.
Enter the driveway with the Gaelhurst sign and park in the gravel lot. Come to the front door for a key, unless we've made other arrangements with you. The entrance to the apartment is around back, down the mulch pathway. Feel free to sit in the Adirondack chairs to soak in the scenery while plan your weekend.

We love getting to know the people we meet at work (he's an HR guy at a Seattle tech firm; she's a Virginia realtor) and the people we've hosted over the years at Gaelhurst. In Seattle, we love the energy and activity of the urban life, but here in Bluemont, we're all about the country. Our idea of the perfect day together? Well, working side by side mending fences, clearing brush, mowing the fields followed by burgers and blues music at Horseshoe Curve Restaurant sounds pretty good. So does sipping wine from the deck at Bluemont Vineyard, while gazing down the mountainside at Gaelhurst Retreat and doing nothing at all.
