Our newly refurbished "Old Cottage" at Lochhournhead Farm we hope, will be opening Autumn 2017. Close to the Cape Wrath trail, with paths leading to Barisdale, Inverie, Arnisdale & Shiel Bridge, we are situated at the end of a 22 mile winding, single track road passing some of Scotland’s most stunning scenery and opening up with breath taking views at the head of Loch Hourn.
Please be aware we have NO mains electricity or water, no wifi and little or no mobile phone signal!
Put down your phones, tablets and laptops. Forget about the internet and wifi. Enjoy the stars in the night sky, board games by the wood burner or meeting our other guests over supper.
The Cottage consists of a kitchen (with a gas cooker) come sitting room with wood burner, off which there is a double bedroom with a shower room & wc. Upstairs there are two twin rooms, as well as a bathroom. The bathroom has a large cast iron bath, wc, and wash hand basin. The cottage has underfloor heating in the main building and radiators in the bedroom and is heated by an oil boiler and the wood burning stove. Please note, we only have access to a limited electricity supply which is unable to cope with hair dryers, toasters, kettles. There is a small fenced garden at the rear which is useful if you have a dog.
Important Information ...
We have NO mains electricity, water or gas and an unreliable and substandard phone line (and not much wifi!).
All our hot water is heated by the Rayburn in the kitchen or by coal fires.
Water comes straight from the surrounding hills and although it is filtered we would recommend drinking bottled water.
Please can you bring some suitable indoor footwear
Well behaved dogs are allowed, but not on any of the beds or furniture
We are at the end of a 22 mile single track which is not suitable for large vehicles with a low chassis. Sometimes the track is subject to flooding and road damage which can cut us off.
We do not allow smoking within the building
We can also be contacted on our landline at The Farmhouse between late March and October but please be aware that the phone line can be rather unreliable. Otherwise, please email us.
