Right on Cardiff's renowned Cathedral Road and backing the beautiful Bute Park, stay in one of Cardiff's original victorian buildings in trendy Pontcanna. Perfect for location independent workers, visiting professors, weekenders or holiday makers, conference goers and cricket, rugby and athletics fans! Close to local amenities and attractions with 100MB fibre internet.
Guests may use the kitchen and living room (shared with me and my dog, Gus!).
I am renting out my spare bedroom, recently renovated, within my home. The space comes complete with high-speed (100mb) fibre broadband, towels, bed linen and all the essentials to make your stay pleasant.
One of the best shopping areas in the UK is a beautiful 15 minute walk through the park. The museum, Millennium Stadium (Rugby!), Cardiff Arms Park, City Centre, Bute Park, Castle, Llandaff Cathedral and Pontcanna high street are all within walking distance.
The Wales Millennium Centre (Opera, Musicals) and Cardiff Bay can be reached via water taxi (a boat!) or taxi / bus.
Cardiff's central bus station is just a 4 minute walk away in Sophia Gardens, where all major intercity bus routes arrive and depart. The main train station is a bit further, about 25 minute walk, 15 minute bus or 6-7 minute taxi.
When you arrive, you'll get a nice guide helping you orient yourself with my flat and the local area.
I always have coffee, tea, juice and different breakfasts in the cupboard for guests. You're welcome to help yourself at any time.
Guests will get a set of keys and are welcome to come in and out of the apartment as they please. As I live at the property I just ask guests to be respectful after midnight. Parking is available around back or on road outside (free).
This is my home, but as an experienced Airbnb guest and host I like to open up my spare room to travellers. It's likely I'll be at the property when you visit, but feel free to make the space your home too - use the kitchen, living room, happy to chat and share stories. If you prefer to keep yourself to yourself, that's also fine.
Gus, my dog, is still a puppy and a new arrival at my house. He is currently quite mischievous and can howl (not scary / doesn't bite) when people come home late at night. However, Gus isn't allowed in the guest bedroom at all and he's learning very fast at puppy school.
Hi, I'm Rob! I'm half British, half Italian and have spent most of my twenties travelling Europe, North and South America. I run my own business, Applingua, and I co-founded a community interest company called Cardiff Start that helps people start tech startups.
I like any city with a bit of buzz, whether traditional like Rome or cosmopolitan like New York. But I also love the countryside, mountains and remote locations.
When I get to a new place, I like to walk a lot and avoid public transport as much as possible. I think you get to see so much more that way. I'm also a sucker for all the usual hotspots, museums, parks and bars and never say no to a local experience.
As a guest I'm clean, tidy and respectful of others. Communicative and happy to before arriving. I'm an early-ish riser and happy to muck in if you need me to help with anything.
As a host on AirBnB, I like to interact a bit with my guests, learn something from them, hear their stories.
My life's motto has always been 'the wisest of men take their own direction' by Euripides. Be different.
