Our home is located on a quiet street just two-minutes from the North Laines, four minutes from the train station, and on the doorstep of a number of independent cafes, art galleries, and parks. The open-plan layout is ideal as a family hangout and socialising space.

The living spaces are on the first and second floors, with Juliet balconies on both levels, so it is a bright and airy space where we grow lots of interesting plants and enjoy socialising with friends. The two bedrooms have black-out blinds and King size duvets, so we are sure you will sleep comfortably! On the ground floor, there is a utility room, small courtyard garden, and a music room from which Sam teaches piano and I practice flute, but I'm afraid this room is not for guests use.

The main entrance from the street is shared with our neighbours, but once in the house, you're in a very quiet space with two bedrooms and a lovely sofa bed in the lounge (memory foam here, no springs!). The music room on the ground floor is out of bounds, but other than that, you have the whole house to yourselves! We will leave two sets of keys and are able to leave keys in a safe on the front of the house if you're arriving late.

You will probably meet us if you arrive in the afternoon/early evening as we usually try to be around to welcome guests and give a quick show-around. If you are staying during the week you may notice Sam accessing the music room to teach or practice periodically, but he is self-contained and won't need access to the rest of the house, so other than that you will most likely be undisturbed during your stay.

We have a very friendly cat called Grammar... He usually has at least 3 pouches/tins of food a day as well as dry food, which we will leave out for you.

The cat flap must be set to open at all times, and the internal doors between the cat flap and the kitchen must be open to allow him to access his food in the kitchen.

Please make us aware how many people will be staying at the time of booking. Extra guests are not permitted.

Guests are not permitted to use the music room.

Our door key is coded and must be cut by a specialist - if you lose a set of keys, please inform us as soon as possible. There is a £50 charge if keys are not returned at the time of check-out.

可能会有噪音 - Sam is a pianist and teaches from home 2 days a week. There are building works (near completion) next door but disturbance is minimal (weekdays only)
房源里养有宠物 - We have a cat (bengal x savannah) though he sheds minimally and doesn't tend to aggravate allergies for most cat allergy sufferers (myself included!)
房源里不能停车 - There are several parking options nearby, including a secure multi-storey and free on-street parking a few minutes walk away
需公用某些区域 - The kitchen, lounge and bathroom are shared spaces
便利设施缺陷 - We have a washing machine and drying rack - if you wish to use a dryer, there is a laundrette very nearby

Chris and Sam's house is so lovely. It is clean and tidy, cosy with plenty of personality. These days it can be hard to find air bnb's that still represent the original idea of it- that is sharing your home with people from around the world. This place really is what air bnb was meant to be for. The couple were so friendly and helpful, we really enjoyed our stay and wish them best of luck with all their future visitors. Would recommend the place to anyone.

Chris and Sam have a wonderful home (and cat!) The communication was easy and they were happy to help. The house was clean and comfortable, it was ideal for a weekend get away with friends.

A wonderful apartment which suited our families' needs perfectly. A home from home in Brighton and the host was brilliant from start to finish.

The owners went out of their way to ensure our stay was just perfect and it was. Will be staying there again for definite. About 4 mins from train station and 5 mins walk to the Lanes - lots of nearby shops. Everything in the house you need. We had 6 people stay the first night and 4 the second, even with 6 there was plenty of room. Absolutely loved our stay.

After carefully hand picking this house to suit our needs (four friends) for the Great Escape Festival in Brighton, we can't fault the house or the hosts. This home is beautifully crafted with some unique touches. We fell in love with the house a little more everyday. We met both Chris & Sam a couple of times during our stay which was a nice experience, (which doesn't usually happen). The location is great, minutes walk into town and on a nice quiet road. Grammar the cat was wonder and a treat to have around. Chris was super informative and made sure we knew everything we needed to know, along with the little handmade airbnb handbook just in case. From the get go Chris was always easy to contact - honest, organised & friendly! We cannot fault our stay in any way, the house was lovely and clean, spacious & cosy! We loved it!

Chris is a fantastic host and made us very welcome. All instructions were clear and the house is comfortable. We will certainly return on our next visit to Brighton.

We had a really nice weekend at Chris’s despite some minor issues with the property. The area was quite run down and when we got there we were advised how to shut the front door as it was quite difficult to shut securely. Some of the bed linen was unclean and smelly and there was cat hair throughout (we knew there was a cat – a very cute cat too – so we were prepared for this). Unfortunately after we left the hosts demanded payment for some damages we didn’t make and extorted money from us by exaggerating damage. I think we were just unlucky, based on the other positive reviews, but watch out for this one.
In response to this review, we would like to give a chronological list of events. 1) Consistent positive reviews and five star ratings from all previous guests and super host status. 2) Greta and her group of five 20-something year old guests arrive and we struggle to feel listened to whilst sharing information with them. 3) We arrived home to find a number of things had been broken, stained or were even missing. We also found broken glass on the floor which was worrying considering it is a home with a pet 4) Greta offered some compensation but did not accept full responsibility and refused to pay for the full £90 worth of damages. 5) We sought help from airbnb's mediation process who required photo evidence, receipts and message history from both sides and then decided in our favour. 6) Following this decision, Greta left this review with inaccuracies and fabricated issues which had not been mentioned until now - for instance, she commented on cat hair 'throughout the house', however, our cat is a cross between two pedigree breeds: a Savannah, which does not shed at all, and a Bengal, which is well-known for its minimal shedding. So finding cat hair in the house is very rare, but made all the more difficult by the fact that I vacuum and mop the entire house before a guest arrives. She also complained of 'smelly sheets' which were recently bought and had also been washed that day - unfortunately, two of the three sets of bedding they used needed replacing following their stay, and is amongst the photo evidence that informed airbnb's decision. We could continue to challenge Greta's claims, but instead hope that it is clear to any readers that this negative feedback sandwiched between 5* reviews is more a reflection on the guest, as opposed to the host.

We are a musical and outdoorsy Brighton-based couple - Sam is a piano teacher and composer, and I (Chris) am a trainee joiner.

We enjoy the performing arts, vegetarian cooking, camping, climbing, swimming, and growing things - you'll find our house full of interesting plants, inside and out! We also have a very sociable cat, Grammar, who comes and goes as he pleases - mostly he hangs out on the roofs around our house and also visits our neighbours!

Our home is a semi-detached three-storey, two bed property - it has a toilet/utility room and music room on the ground floor (though the music room is not for common use), a spacious open plan lounge/dining room/kitchen on the first, and two double bedrooms and large bathroom on the second floor. Outside, we have a small courtyard garden with lots growing - our urban oasis! There is a car park directly opposite the house and another at the end of the street, where you will also find a car hire company, so mobilising yourself and parking once you are here is very easy! There is also feee street parking a short walk from the house.

The house can comfortably accommodate 6 people (2 in each bedroom and 2 in the lounge on our fold out sofa-bed). We are more than happy to introduce you to some of what Brighton has to offer if that's what you're after, or if we are away, you will find all the house info and some local knowledge in our handbook.

We have used air bnb a number of times as guests and had great experiences staying in quirky homes and meeting friendly local hosts, which made us want to start sharing our own place. We have many unfulfilled travel plans for Europe, East Asia, South America, Africa... lots left to explore! But Brighton is a great welcoming and vibrant place to come back to!
