My place is close to the city center, public transport, nightlife, and parks. You’ll love my place because of the neighborhood, the comfy bed, and the coziness. My place is good for couples and solo adventurers.
The Blue Room was as described, small and practical. It was cramped for two people. Not much place to put luggage, but I'm happy with that aspect because it was as described. It's a cramped double bed. The door nearly hits the bed as you open it. There's a closet rod and hangers. A tiny nightstand and desk. Almost nowhere to put luggage for 2 people. Would be great for one person. The location is great. 20 minute walk to downtown, 9 minute walk to two grocery stores. Check in was good. Àsgeir communicated well over texts to tell us how to get there. Our experience was not too comfortable, unfortunately. The first night, we were awoken at 21:30 (or 01:30 to our personal clocks) when some guests arrived. That was understandable, but the hosts had an loud conversation right outside our bedroom in the kitchen which lasted about 20 minutes. I think they meant well in welcoming welcoming the new guests, but the lack of consideration of quiet hours was annoying and got everything off on the wrong foot. Also, it was tough to to have 8 people sharing the apartment. We were not aware it would be so crowded. It meant competing for bathroom space. Also with so many people, things get dirty quite fast. It would have been good to have someone clean the shared spaces each day. The hosts did not introduce themselves to us. We thought they were fellow guests.
Our stay in Reykjavik was very comfy and everything from the listing was accurate. The hosts were accommodating and gave valuable insight into where we could find affordable food nearby. It was easy to relate to the hosts Hakon and Lukas because of their interest in video games, but regardless definitely talk to them! We had interesting conversations ranging from games to Icelandic culture. I would definitely recommend staying here!
Super friendly, family run business. Hakon and Lukas are the two hosts with the help of their grandfather, Bouncy, and his sister, Gudi. Every other AirBNB host I've been with has been pretty hands-off but these two were so open and friendly, it really feels like they invited you into their home. We discussed Icelandic culture, language, history, America, and so many other subjects. It helped that we were all into video games and martial arts :D They also gave me plenty of advice and help on negotiating with gift shops, places to visit, etc. Every person I met involved with this place was so friendly, I was swept away by the warmth. The room is small but very perfectly located. If you're traveling solo, this is the best place to stay, period!
