Our home is on a cul-de-sac road just one mile from a wooded trail to the Mendenhall wetlands and beach. We are close to The University of Alaska Southeast, the airport, Brotherhood Bridge Trail, Mendenhall Golf Course, and Auke Bay. Our home is cozy and somewhat secluded -- surrounded by trees, close to conveniences, and away from the crowded touristy areas. Our place is good for solo adventurers and business travelers.
Your stay with us will be in a bedroom on the main level of our home. The main level has an open kitchen, dining, and living area and is shared with us. Large windows provide views to the tree-filled scenery outside. We keep a comfortable home and welcome you to join us for breakfast during your stay. We serve a choice of a variety of foods -- oatmeal, eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits & gravy, grits, pancakes, waffles, french toast, yogurt, lox & bagels, fruit, toast, coffee, tea, juice -- just let us know what you like. If you like the casual, laid back way of life, then you will be comfortable in our home. We like good company and good food, and we're not a fancy, antique-laden bed and breakfast.
Guests have access to a full bathroom shared with other guests, laundry room (washer & dryer & supplies), kitchen, dining room, and living room. A fire in the wood stove takes the chill out of the cool air. The living room has a television with cable and access to Netflix and Amazon Prime. The house is equipped with wireless internet. Guests are welcome to the outside garden areas as well. We have a few nice spots to sit in the sun and watch the birds when it is shining. Guests can use the backyard fire pit on those nice nights. Parking is available in a turnout spot off the road, next to the house. We have lots of fishing and outdoor gear, so if you need something during for your adventure, please ask, we may have what you need. One of your hosts is an experienced fly fisherman and can answer questions about fishing and outdoor experiences in the area.
Because we share the same common areas, interaction with guests is somewhat high; however, we like to stay busy, and during the day, when we're not working, we're usually puttering around the house or garden, fishing, hiking, or enjoying a game of golf. (We have an extra set of clubs you can borrow.) We prepare most of our own dinners at home each evening and you can join us when we do. However, guests usually like to explore the local fare, and we can make recommendations if you have questions about where to eat.
Our home is located on the path for incoming flights to the Juneau airport, so if you are sensitive to air traffic noise, ours may not be the place for you.
- Our home is on the second level, accessible by stairs.
- Owners live in the house.
- Rental car is recommended. Nearest bus stop is one mile away.
- Quiet hours 10 p.m. to 8 a.m.
We are a down-to-earth, easy-going couple who value friendship, outdoor experiences, and good food. We are friends of nature and animals, and we strive every day to make the world a better place.
We enjoy sharing our home with travelers to Juneau who are looking for an out of the way place to rest at night.
Our home is perfect for guests who want to relax in a comfortable and cozy log home. We have cable and wireless Internet, but we're also the kind of people who like to curl up with a good book at the end of the day. (The house has plenty of books in case you leave yours at home.)
We like hearing about our guests' traveling adventures...whether you are traveling for pleasure or for work...we find airbnb travelers a good match for our guest house.
