Station House is in a wonderful corner of North Yorkshire, with lovely views, fantastic walks and cycle rides and stunning stately homes and abbeys close by. A stream runs through the village. But best of all is a great pub serving award-winning food just over the road. Good for families and couples wanting to take time out to explore. York is 20 miles away, Helmsley is six miles away and the coast just a forty minute drive. Ampleforth Abbey is close by as is Castle Howard and Nunnington Hall.
Station House is an old railway station which has been brought up to date as a much-loved family home. It centres around a large kitchen/dinning/sitting room which has a big, range cooker, a woodburner-style fire and plenty of eating and slouching space.
Upstairs there are three bedrooms - a grown-up double, a single and a third room which has single bed as well as a very high-quality pull-out trunkle bed.
There's a medium-sized bathroom with bath and shower serving the whole house. Downstairs, there's a small laundry room.
Guests can access the main kitchen/dining/living area and the whole of the upstairs. I plan to shut off our living room simply so I use it as a store for our belongings over the summer.
I will be on hand to welcome you to the house and show you how everything works and give you some ideas about great things to do. But apart from that, I'll be staying a thirty or so minute drive away.
We're making the house available to guests while the family is away over the summer. During the year, we run a self-contained B and B room linked to the property. So guests may be staying for a night or so in the adjoining section of the house during your stay.
