Nestled in a backyard that's home to three cute dwarf goats and a flock of hens, this little cabin overlooks the hot tub, back woods, and greenhouse. Serenity and relaxation await you. Complete with an outdoor shower (in the summer months), this is a great place to unwind. Close to the Columbia River Gorge and Mt Hood and only 30 mins to downtown Portland - you get the best of both worlds. The cabin is good for couples and solo adventurers.
This little cabin is tucked into my half acre backyard. Surrounded by a garden, goats, hens, old growth fir trees, canvas wall tent (which also hosts guests), and a hot tub - you will also have access to a half bath with a toilet, sink, and laundry in the main house - as well as an outdoor shower on the deck in the summer months. These spaces are shared. The cabin, however, is all yours.
The cabin itself is equipped with a queen size bed with memory foam mattress, a table with two chairs, a hot water kettle, a dresser, as well as a very-mini fridge. This is a space to unwind and relax.
You'll have access to the cabin, the yard, hot tub, deck, outdoor grill, outdoor shower and tub (in the summer months), and half bath (toilet, sink, washer and dryer) in the main house.
All spaces other than the cabin are shared. Please note that in the winter the outdoor shower is not available (freezing temps mean frozen pipes). Please also keep in mind that there may be guests in the canvas wall tent out back in the woods. I also host an Airbnb experience Indigo dye class out of my home studio (if you're interested in learning indigo, let me know!).
I'll be there when available! I'll probably say hi and make sure you're doing alright, or answer questions that you have. If we're using the shared spaces at the same time then you'll see me a bit more. I am out with the animals daily doing chores. I'm here when you need me, but respect your privacy.
Please be mindful that this is a bit of a rustic space. In the summer months there's a outdoor shower, in the winter months the outdoor shower is closed and you will need to coordinate with me to use the shower in the main house. The half back (toilet and sink) is always available though.
I live here as well as my roommate, we appreciate quiet guests, and will give you your privacy during your stay (we like ours as well). We do use the common areas though, so you can expect to see us on occasion.
Please don't feed any of the animals (many things are harmful to them).
We value our space here and want our guests to be respectful to us, our neighbors, and our animals, the following are some basic rules to ensure that your space and our space are respected:
No parties or loud music
Hot tub hours for Airbnb guests are from 9 am - 9 pm
Please rinse in the shower before using the hot tub
No guests other than those booked through Airbnb may be on premises during your reservation (maximum 2 guests)
No access to the main house other than the half bath accessible off the back deck
No access to garage or outbuildings
Please remove your shoes when entering the cabin
Please keep noise levels to a respectful level - the cabin is in close
No glass permitted in the hot tub area (non-glass cups are provided for your use)
Feel free to use the hot tub jets and light, but please turn them off and put the lid back on when you are done - do not adjust the temperature in the hot tub
No skinny dipping in the tub
No feeding the animals
The gas grill on the porch is available for your use - if you need additional cookware just let me know
One vehicle per reservation is permitted in the drive - please park to the left on front of the garage
The thermostat on the wall does not work, if you need extra blankets they are in the chest at the foot of the bed
Please close gate when entering and exiting the yard (the chickens are escape artists)
Check out is by 11 am on the day of your departure
If you need to reach me texting or calling is preferable to a knock at the door
And last but not least - please enjoy yourself!
Hi there, I'm Carolyn! I'm from Portland, OR. I travel a lot! I am friendly, laid back, and always looking for a bit of adventure. I love to cook, travel (obviously), see art and sights, thrift, and to hike! I'm also an artist, and have a keen eye for aesthetics. When I'm not at work or on the road you'll find me playing in the woods with my border collie / Australian shepherd mix - Levi, or working hard in studio in preparation for my next show. As a guest I am pretty low maintenance, and enjoy finding quirky spots to stay in - the more eccentric the better! I also host out of my half acre homestead in Portland. I look forward to sharing it with you as a host so that you can appreciate my knack for creating visual experiences in person!
