The Purple Palace welcomes guests of all backgrounds. We are rainbow lovers here. The property is, as one person has put it, "a piece of art with a roof." Dartmouth College, Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, and Vermont Law School are within easy driving distance. You’ll love the Purple Palace for its complete privacy and natural beauty. The Purple Palace is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, writers and artists, and anyone who appreciates nature and desires time and space to unplug and unwind.
-The house faces west--sunsets here are dreamy.
-The house is full of world-class original art.
-The interior of the house is warm, colorful, and inviting.
-Guests will enjoy complete privacy on nineteen acres of land (most of it forest).
-Next door to the house is the trail-head for the Cross Rivendell Trail, which runs through the town forest.
-Beautiful Lake Fairlee is two miles away and includes a town beach and a public boat launch.
-Guests have full access to the house. Guests do not have access to the host's studio (attached), the room off of the pool-table room in the basement (both marked "private," and the shed.
-Guests may feel free to prepare meals in the kitchen.
-Guests may use any foods and cooking ingredients on site. Guests should please not touch what's in the freezer (host's storage) and what's growing in the vegetable gardens.
-Downstairs in the basement is a pool table for guests and also an X-box with a large TV screen.
The host lives in the cottage next door and works at the Purple Palace and is available throughout the guest's visit.
- The fireplaces (in kitchen and living room) are not operational. Please leave them be.
- The basement room off the pool-table room, as well as the owner's studio, are off limits.
-Quiet hours are between 11 p.m. and 9 a.m.
-Please refrain from wandering onto neighbors' properties.
-Stick to the trails and roads when walking/hiking.
-Please conserve water and electricity.
-Clean up all food from outside at night to keep bears and other varmints from visiting.
-Please make absolutely certain to extinguish fires outside in the fire pit before retiring for the night.
-A clothesline and clothespins are available for drying laundry.
-Please use recycling bins located across from downstairs bathroom.
-Please dispose of vegetable/fruit peelings, egg shells, coffee grounds (no meat or fish) in a compost bin provided in the kitchen.
