Ever dreamed of sleeping in a Treehouse? Surrounded by nature not concrete? Still close to the city, but far away to disconnect and go for a hike up the hills?
Then this Treehouse in the hills of Escazu, the IN place of San Jose might be just right!
**** This is our Discounted Listing for the Treehouse - offering 2 and sometimes 1 Night Stays using gap days. For our 5 Star Reviews go to www.airbnb.com/rooms/2315701 *****
Beautiful, one-of-a-kind Treehouse, done with lots of light wood and lots of windows; built with care right into the tree for a unique experience. A world away from downtown, but connected with a direct bus that will take you downtown for all the hustle.
I'm listing this space for my good friends Juanita and Roy, who have lived and developed the property for over 40 years (please note that both speak English). Beautiful grounds, lots of tropical foliage and flowers, they even have a fruit orchard and grow some organic veggies. You have never seen a hummingbird fly around, here you will!
It's a Treehouse in a living tree and space is not abundant, but there is a private terrace on the lower deck, a new mattress on the upper floor accessible by ladder only and you will feel part of your surroundings.
There always a fresh breeze going through the tree and you'll need a sweater or more. Breakfast will be served at the main house, usually on the outdoor terrace of the main house or indoors if the weather is not quite up to task. The Treehouse has no kitchen and meals are not provided. There are options in San Antonio de Escazu and also Escazu.
The Treehouse is ideal for guests that want to enjoy and experience regional cuisine and eat out a lot.
Wifi is available at the Treehouse.
With higher altitude, it's advisable to have a weather or long sleeve shirt as it is much fresher compared to San Jose and the beach.
The Treehouse, use of the outdoor terrace of the main house. Guests are free to explore the property and observe the many birds and butterflies. There is also fresh fruit on the trees, but please coordinate first.
The garden is also great to catch a nap in the afternoon and catch some sun! The Treehouse has it's own deck as well.
Guests can define the level of interaction, but both Juanita and Roy are always happy to have guests and I personally spend afternoons full of great hospitality, yummy food, lots of talking there. Both speak English.
It's fresh up in the mountains and even fresher in the tree. There is always a breeze going and you won't miss not having air conditioning come out of a box.
The Treehouse is built right within the tree and you will see some branches snaking through it. When there is wind you will hear it creaking and the leaves rustling, it part of what makes it unique.
Security is an issue in all of Costa Rica, and if you plan to stay out late, you need to coordinate with Juanita and Rey. Whilst we welcome kids, after all the Treehouse was built for the grandson, we have a firm 2 person limit. Please note that neither the Treehouse nor the main house are equipped with any child-proofing features.
Love to read, enjoy the days as they come. Every now and then a stray comes along - some have stayed, while other cats and dogs have found new homes, so there is always some assortment of 4 legged friends around.
I have started to add a couple of additional and quite unique listings for very good friends of mine. I do vouch for each of my listings and know all properties and their locations well. I hope that staying at one or more of them makes your trip to Costa Rica simply amazing!
Check my wishlist for a unique Treehouse in the central San Jose Valley, a relaxing Yurt close to the Chirripo Mountain in the middle of Costa Rica or a romantic getaway in Tortuguero. All my listings are family and LBGT friendly.
Now that my son is grown up I have simplified my life and am spending more time travelling and enjoying the beauty that Costa Rica has to offer. I have teamed up with my friend Erika from Venezuela, who will be co-hosting my room in the city. I am online and will coordinate all the details. Erika speaks English and she and my dogs will welcome you just the same as if I would.
