We live in Sebastopol, California on five acres where we enjoy gardening, cooking and the cultural arts. We are both designers who have lived in California, NYC and Zürich. Our travels take us to Europe and Baja regularly where we have family. Casa 23Km is design/built by my father, a RISD graduate in architecture, and crafted by local hands that have become life long friends. My mother's work, as an artist/illustrator, developed the color schemes and her portraitures are inspired by the surrounding character and culture. Casa 23Km is within walking distance of the ocean. Todos Santos is a truly preserved culturally rich town fed by a Sierra Nevada mountain spring which fills waterways - creating a palm and agricultural oasis. We walk whenever we can - to town for coffee in the mornings to talk and meet friends, for fruit popsicles or smoothies mid-day and on warm evenings for music, food and drink. The sound of the ocean puts you to sleep and morning doves call you awake. There are whales, sea turtles if you are lucky, and beautiful sunsets. Time spent here always makes us value the things that matter most in life which we always get to take home with us.
