The James Street Manor caters to world travelers, backpackers, and professionals traveling on business. Whether you're passing through or need a place to call home while you're exploring Southern Ontario, we've got you covered.
Inspired by nature and history, James Street Manor has custom wood furniture, regal linens, vintage chandeliers, and a splash of décor inspired by Dundurn Castle.
Enjoy our beautifully designed custom bathroom during your stay with us. Our 6 foot soaker tub, chlorine filtered shower head, and 60 gallon water tank will ensure you have enough hot water for all your bathing and relaxing needs.
Having a room to call your own is nice, but having the option to change your scenery is another perk that the James Street Manor provides. Enjoy our common areas by relaxing by the fireplace with a good book or conversing over afternoon tea with your travel mate or your social hosts.
No need to spend hundreds of dollars on restaurant fees if you don't want to. Marc and Carmen cook three meals a day and you are welcome to join them for a nominal fee. You could also enjoy your own food and the scenic view of the Hamilton Staircase.
Eating at pubs and restaurants is fine for some, but Marc and Carmen know what it's like to yearn for healthy food during your travels. We have everything a health nut could possibly need to make a nutritious meal including a blender, juicer, crock pot and dehydrator. Plus we are happy to cook for you if you want to try something new.
We have a list of fresh ideas on how to explore the beautiful city of Hamilton so you can make the most of your time here.
If you need advice on how to plan your trip leading up to your stay at the James Street Manor, we're here to help! We can help you plan your perfect holiday by sharing Hamilton's current events, local hot spots and hidden gems.
ALLERGY ALERT: The James Street Manor has two residential cats who are incredibly sweet and social (a Bengal and a Seal-Point Siamese).
We do not have neighbours and therefore noise concerns are minimal. If more than 1 couple is staying at the Manor, we ask that you do not disturb each other with excessive noise. If you are the only guest staying at the Manor, we're pretty hip and encourage you to enjoy yourself.
All of our room rates are based on double occupancy. We allow a maximum of 2 people in each Guest Rooms and you are required to provide us with the full name of each guest prior to arrival.
Registered guests are the only people permitted to enter our home. You are free to meet friends and family outside our residence, but you may not invite anyone into our home without prior consent.
You can smoke all you want outside. We just ask that you clean up after yourself.
We cater to adult travellers, backpackers and business professionals, but we do like children. If you are super excited to meet us and you want to bring your family, give us a call and we'll try to work something out.
We are unable to accommodate pets at this time because we already own to precious kittens.
The James Street Manor has 2 residential kittens; an exotic Bengal and a beautiful seal-point Siamese kitten. They are sweet, loving and truly exceptional pets. While they do not have access to your Guest Room, they are an important part of our family and have free roam of all the common areas. If you are allergic to cats (or don't like cats) we suggest you find alternative lodging arrangements. However, if you are a cat lover, Princess Elsa and Sir Winston are super affectionate and love new people. They may even be a perfect substitute for the pet you left at home!
Also, we are extremely health conscious and environmentally friendly so if you have a food or environment allergy you will likely benefit from staying with us. We purchase fair trade, organic products and do not use any toxic cleaning products in our home. If you have allergy concerns (sweet kitties exempt), please let us know so we can better accommodate you.
As a Host:
We purchased the manor 2 years ago and spent countless hours creating a beautiful blend of rustic, vintage and shabby chic decor.
Because we are social beings, we decided to rent rooms in our house as a way to make some extra cash while meeting new and exciting people.
Providing fun and safe accommodations is our way of paying back the countless people who opened their hearts and homes to us during our many travelling adventures.
As a Guest:
I love to travel and experience different cultures. I also love adventure and exploring new areas of interest.
I enjoy pools, hot tubs and balconies where I stay and being close to a coffee shop or vegetarian restaurant is always appreciated.
I am mature, courteous and respectful and will treat your place as though it were my own.
