Our house is welcoming and warm, a place that provides you a home away from home. Ideal for a family or good friends. The large fully equipped kitchen and living area are the heart of the house. Great location, it is very central but without the overwhelming tourist masses.
Please mind that during your stay your view will be blocked due to scaffolding around the balcony cause of temporary construction on the building.
Our apartment is 61 square meters and located on the first floor, has 2 bedrooms and a balcony overlooking the Kostverlorenvaart. We've bought the house over a year ago and did large renovations our selfs, we moved the kitchen from what now is our baby room to the space next to the living room so that we could have a large kitchen and living area. Since we love cooking for each other and for friends, our kitchen has become the beating heart of the apartment, most of our nights are spent sitting at our kitchen table. We collected all of our stuff together in the recent years at various locations, each item shows a little bit of who we are. Friends and family always tell us that our house is welcoming and warm, and that is exactly what we (unknowingly) were hoping for, a place where everybody feels welcome. Another thing we love about our house is its location, it is very central but without the overwhelming tourist masses. Most Saturdays we'll walk to the fresh produce markets in the Jordaan (Lindengracht) or in West (Ten Katestraat), which are at 10 minutes walking distance. Our home is in a popular area but it still feels very much like a cozy neighbourhood, and we love that. The fact that the owners of the deli and the little Turkish supermarket know our names is great, as is the fact that we can get our parcels delivered at the cafe downstairs and ask our neighbors for help whenever we need an extra hand to get something done. These are the little things that make our neighborhood a great environment to live in. The surrounding neighborhoods each have their distinctive identities. You'll find plenty of bars and restaurants in walking/biking distance, as well as small shops, an adventurous playground for children or those young at heart and two large city parks.
Guests will have full access to the apartment. Apart from the two-person bed there is single bed present that can be placed in the second bedroom for a third guest. There is also a baby cot present here (or we can store that away, if not needed). Guests are free to use our bikes (we have two), both are equipped with a child seat (in the front). Please lock them double, preferably to something fixed (e.g. a tree or a pole).
There is a contactperson available in case you need any help.
You're very welcome to use our washer and washing machine. Please use the 'eco' option for the washing machine. Detergent cubes go into the little compartment on the inside of the door and are stored under the sink. You'll find laundry detergent on the shelve next to the washer in the closet in the hall. One scoop in the left segment of the compartment will leave your laundry fresh and clean. The plug of the balcony lights is on the floor in the second bedroom. The lights are turned on by simply plugging this in. Please always take out the plug when going to bed or leaving the apartment.

Hi, I'm Joyce!
I've traveled the world for my job at the World Press Photo Foundation and if there was one thing that I found important on those travels, it was that people could make me feel at home at a place that was a long way from Amsterdam. That is also exactly what I like about the whole Airbnb experience, and what we (my boyfriend Sander and our daughter Zia) would like to provide for everybody that is staying in our apartment in the center of Amsterdam: a home away from home! Our house is your house, but since I'm also a little addicted to reading: my exploding bookcase, is your bookcase. Another 'passion' is cooking, that is why we made the kitchen the heart of the apartment, which we hope you use to the fullest. My favorite thing about this apartment? Waking up on a Saturday morning with the sun coming into the bright living room/kitchen, getting a coffee at the nearby square, while then walking to the market in the nearby 'Jordaan' area. That never stops feeling like a holiday in your own city.
