Kevin’s - Edge of the Wilderness, Aurora Above
Remote but accessible, Kevin's Cabin is 30 miles east of Fairbanks and in route to Chena Hotsprings. Experience the Aurora, hug a husky, live on the…
This was a perfect oasis in the woods! So fun being on site with sled dogs and in the quiet of the woods. We were under a half an hour from the hot springs, steps away from great hikes and skiing, all within a short drive to shopping amenities. The cabin was warm and cozy and had everything we needed. We had a wonderful time unplugging and our dogs loved it, too! We will definitely be back again soon!
The cabin was an amazing place to spend some R&R all by itself. We stayed in the winter and being in the cozy cabin with snow falling was amazing enough. Add the Northern lights out the window on a clear night and this place is spectacular. Hosts were some of the most accommodating in my AirBnB experiences. Definitely take a dogsled ride from them. Was a perfect distance away from Fairbanks, but close enough for easy daytrips to town.
Such a fantastic stay! This is a great location and the best hosts! Cozy cabin, felt very warm and welcoming for our 3 day stay. I may have been more of a fan of the outhouse if I had visited during a warmer time, but the bathroom in the house is available pretty much all day which is great. Loved my sled dog ride as well. Would definitely stay again if/when I am back in the area. Thanks very much Judy and Devan!
Fantastic place to stay!! Don’t pass this one up, Judy & Devon are great. We checked in the first day, drove down to the hot springs. Did a sled dog ride the following day and witnessed the universe put on an amazing northern lights show that night. We stayed up between 10-2pm to watch the lights and it was perfect because the field behind the cabin allowed for great photos and when we needed to warm up the cabin was right there! We highly recommend this place for the perfect Fairbanks experience :)
Originally we had booked for only one night but once we arrived and settled in we decided we wanted to stay an additional evening... We also stayed at the Chena Hotsprings resort which I would not likely do again... we LOOOOVED the Hotsprings and the Ice sculpture museum. I’d highly recommend this experience as a day trip, it’s only $15.00 per person for each event. This cabin is cozy, clean and comfortable. We loooved the outhouse because we are weird:) lol.. but it was clean and kind of a novelty for us..The bed linens were soft and comfy, The the food supplied was practical and delicious. We loved the dogs on site too. The Hosts were very easy going, flexible and hospitable:)
What a lovely stay! We came up for a weekend getaway. For our first time in Alaska, Kevin’s Cabin could not be beat. From super comfortable furnishings and a range of unexpected but essential amenities like a 5-gallon jug of drinking water, hand warmers, and parkas (which we actually wore outside and they helped us stay so warm!), we loved how everything was given so much thought and detail. Since Judy and her husband Devan have a background in dog racing/Iditarod, you’ll find little touches throughout the cabin that pay homage to their background and experiences. The outhouse is a quick walk outside and very clean... just be sure to bundle up when you use it! And be sure to say hi to the howling pups by the main lodge as well as Jack — the little pup host of the grounds. We even had a chance to meet some 4-day-old husky pups! Such a memorable, comfortable, and quintessentially Alaskan Home stay experience. Thanks, Judy and Devan! Would stay again in a heartbeat.
