My boyfriend and I stayed at Yana's guest house for 10 weeks while we worked in K-town for the summer. The studio is very spacious (perfect for two adults), and it's located in a residential neighborhood that is also close to good food, shopping, and fun! It is situated in Yana's backyard, with a lush garden that creates a perfect privacy barrier between the guest house and the main house. Yana is very hospitable and communicative, and she has a nice kitty named Charlotte who sometimes stops by to say hello. Because the guest house is in a garden, there are a few critters around the unit from time to time, but they are harmless and putting food and drinks away after you've finished will help to keep them at bay. The house is close to bus lines, and about a 15-20 minute walk from the metro, which will take you to lots of fun cultural, dining, and entertainment places. I highly recommend Yana's place because it's a unique unit located in a neighborhood that has a nice balance of residential and urban qualities.
Yana's and Luca's place was very clean and comfortable. Lots of light make the space feel cheery and airy. Although the guest house faces the host's house, the vegetation screens the guest house making it feel like you are in secluded space. We loved the picture window that faces the garden and the plants that provide privacy and color; it was a great place to relax after being out all day. Yana and Luca respected our privacy but made themselves available if we had questions. We were able to get groceries at a Korean market about a block away and had access to transit and restaurants within walking distance. We'll try to stay there again when we go back to visit LA.
Yana made our arrival extremely simple, and was very responsive when we had questions or needed something. The backyard is gorgeous! The space is small but perfect for our 4 day stay, I really enjoyed the loft area but theres some gymnastics involved in getting down the stairs. I wouldn't recommend it if you have a lower body/back disability. Its in a garden, so expect some bugs but nothing I didn't see in my house growing up in LA. The first morning I woke up, washed my face, and a big black spider fell out of the towel as I grabbed it. We also saw some ants in the bathroom. Koreatown is notoriously hard for parking but it wasn't too bad this close to Beverly. Furthest we had to park was around the block. If you find a spot in front, you might want to save yourself the trouble and uber.
