~ Pet friendly - We are happy to have your feline or canine family members stay with us. We accept cats, and dogs who are well behaved, quiet, housebroken, and non-aggressive.
Limit: There is a limit of 3 pets. No weight limit on pets, or breed.
Price: We will charge a one-time fee of $30 for the first pet, and pets 2 & 3 stay for free! (Most places charge for extra pets.)
No Fleas, Please: As a courtesy to all future guests, pets must be flea-free.
Dirty Dogs: We hope your pets have fun here, but please do not bring dirty dogs into the cottage. Plan to bring towels to wipe off wet or dirty fur. Dogs are not permitted in the Jacuzzi, hair will clog our septic system. Bathing should take place outside; you can use the water spigot on the side of the cottage or take warm water outside in our bucket.
Furniture: If you know your dog or cat will be on the couches or beds, bring clean sheets or blankets to completely cover the furniture (two couches, two beds).
Crates: If you leave your dog or cat unattended at the cottage, it must be confined in a crate. A pet left alone in strange surroundings is very likely to express it's frustration by chewing, scratching or marking it's surroundings which, in this case, would be the cottage.
Leashes & tags: Dogs must be kept on a leash when outside the cottage. They may encounter other dogs, see a deer or other wild creature, or find other interesting diversions which would encourage them to run. Dog visitors in the Hocking Hills are, unfortunately, routinely lost in the miles of woods because the owners did not keep them leashed. (ID tags are highly recommended in case they do get loose). We do not permit harassment of local wildlife or domestic animals. If we observe your dog running loose, you will be asked to vacate the cottage and you forfeit your deposit and balance due.
Barking: While we expect to hear dogs bark, persistent barking should be attended to.
Messes: Please clean up after your dog around the cottage property. We have provided a pooper-scooper and garbage can, and doggie poop bags. Any deposits left in the wooded area are OK.
Damage: Any damage to the cottage property which is caused by your pet, will be charged to you in accordance with our Rental Agreement.
My husband, Chuck, and I have lived in the Hocking Hills for over 18 years. I am from Ohio, he is from Wisconsin, and we met in the Hocking Hills! We built our little homestead, raising chickens, dairy goats, honey bees, and organic vegetables. Being "transplants" ourselves, we recognized how precious this part of Ohio is, and in 2005 decided to become involved in the lodging business and provide others with the opportunity to visit the Hocking Hills. Chuck is a builder by trade, and designed and built the cottage by hand with one other helper. His craftsmanship and attention to detail are often mentioned in the journal our guests leave notes in. We even do all the cleaning ourselves, since we are very particular! Our goal is to provide a relaxed, beautiful setting for guests to return to after exploring the forests, caves, creeks, waterfalls and natural rock formations that define this part of Ohio.
