The greatest attribute of this area is the contrast between the mountain and the sea in Senj. A city that is significant for its glorious past, cultural heritage, literature and tradition. The view of the city is dominated by the Nehaj tower, which was built in 1558 by Uskok general Ivan Lenković to defend the city from the Turks and the Venetians. When you head towards the city from the impressive Nehaj tower, you will pass through narrow streets that were specially built to soften the strong blows of the Senj bura. Senj is a place where, after swimming in the sea, you can go on one of the many hiking trails on Velebit.
