Lovingly restored 1835 farmhouse with a working fireplace, two comfortable parlours, a large deck and glorious sunset water views. The situation is old-fashioned, private and quiet.
This 1835 saltbox has been lovingly restored, and updated with a kitchen, one and a half baths and a deck. Our onetime farmhouse has wide floorboards, wideboard wall wainscotting and a working fireplace in the winter parlour. The rooms are charmingly and comfortably decorated in fitting style.
The house overlooks the very wide Argyle River (actually a tidal inlet from the Atlantic). The 4-acre property ensures peace and quiet and goes through reedy (unwalkable) wetlands to the water. Cows graze on the adjacent salt marshes.
Downstairs: summer parlor, winter parlor/dining room, eat-in-kitchen, half bath/laundry room and walk in pantry.
Guests have access to the full house.
I do not live near the property so interaction with guests is extremely minimal--I will mail you the keys prior to your stay and then you mail them back afterwards! My property manager lives next door in case there are any emergencies during your stay.
There is no TV or internet access in the house--it's a place to unplug and relax!
This listing is only available between May through September.
The house is in a quiet residential neighborhood with many long term residents. We strive always to be good neighbors and so discourage rowdy behavior. No loud parties, please.
Please turn off all thermostats when leaving.
