Pruno is situated in Tuscany in the Versilia area at the foot of the mount Pania della Croce, (1858 m above sea level), with a view on the Mount Procinto and Forato. During the summer solstice you can see the sun rising through the arch of Monte Forato, a big hole on its summit. Built around the central tower, the village dates back to the Middle Ages. The ancient church of San Niccolò, built in 11th century, originally had a central nave and during the sixteenth century two side aisles were added. Inside there are sculptures by Thomas Baratta dating to 1706, as well as a baptismal font of the 15th cent. From Pruno many interesting excursions to the peaks of the Apuan Alps and alpine pastures are available. The village of Pruno is part of the municipality of Stazzema. The house is located in Melo, a hamlet not far from Pruno, reachable on foot in about 10 minutes or in just a few seconds by a car suited for steep dust paths.

The building is an old home of Alta Versilia dating to late 19th cent. only partially refurbished several times by the former owners. The house retains all its original character and is distinctly rustic. Facing a large pergola, it is built on three levels (unsuitable for people with restricted mobility) with two double bedrooms, one single bedroom (with two bunk beds), a dining room, a living room and a bathroom with shower. The large secluded rural home offers full tranquility, as well as excellent opportunities for a wide range of excursions, either to the mountainside or to typical villages in Alta Versilia; what's more the lovely resorts in Versilia with their renowned sandy beaches can be reached in about half an hour's drive. It's an ideal place for those who - while choosing the opportunities and the tranquility of the mountains - would like to spend some time on the Versilia coast and get to know this area and its attractions.

Great house in a beautiful area. Without 4x4 car you arrive the house by a sort walk. The mountain view is absolutly wunderful. We speed a great week at this place with our kids. Many thanks to Micaela and her Familie.

We are so pleased we chose Micaela's home for our recent 3 week holiday to Italy. It's the best Airbnb place we've stayed at so far. The house is very well equipped and beautiful, with things to discover around every corner. As others have said, you have to be pretty confident driving on mountain tracks to attempt the drive to the door of the house and we chose to park in a small car park a few minutes walk from the house instead. However, rather than being a pain, as we had feared, it actually gave us a taste of peace and remoteness without ever really feeling far from the village or other sites. It was brilliant for our children (age 4 & 7) who had a large garden to explore without fear of cars passing, and for us to be able to sit out on the terrace and just look at that beautiful view without light or traffic pollution. It also meant the wildlife around the house was fantastic - we had a dormouse come and sit on the pergola and eat the grapes every evening, listened to crickets and cicadas all day and night, saw loads of butterflies and moths, goats... we even heard wild boar in the garden one night (at a safe distance I hasten to add)! Although quite remote in some respects (you have a 20 minute drive down the mountain and back to get to most places), it's actually in a brilliant location for day trips, with loads to do within an hour's drive. We enjoyed river swimming to cool down on hot days (within 20 minutes drive), time on the beach (nearest free beach 30 minutes away, cheapest paid beach 45 minutes away), mountain walks, a day in Lucca, Pisa, Piestrasanta (the nearest large town - very beautiful and full of interesting sculptures and art), a visit to Italy's longest cave complex (Antro Del Corchia), trips to Tellaro (highly recommend) and a visit to the Cinque Terre. Despite being there for such a long time we still didn't do everything we wanted to - there's plenty to keep you busy if you want to, and the house is beautiful and cool enough to enjoy a lazy day in. Pruno has 2 restaurants, one of which also has a bar and small shop, so we spent a few lazy days just walking up to the village for coffee and cake, having lunch on the terrace at the house or in a restaurant, and taking an evening walk. Apart from the shop in Pruno, there is also a good supermarket in Seravezza, about 20 minutes from the house and plenty of good restaurants nearby. We ate in La Canonica a couple of times (the closest to the house, about a 10 minute walk away) and used the bar at Il Poveromo several times (the other restaurant in Pruno). The restaurant halfway down the mountain is very good and reasonably priced (called Ristorante Monte Forato or...

Micaela and her father Marzio are fantastic hosts! We really enjoyed our stay. We ate at Norcineria Barsanti in Cardoso - highly recommend. The view from the house is amazing. Thanks for everything, Micaela!

The house of Micaela is a beautifull old house on a marvelous location. It is far away from easy shopping, but being in the mountains compensates for the easiness. The house is spacious, with the mountains as your garden. The sleepingrooms give place for sleeping and all the clothes can be put in a nice place. The beds are fine and comfartable. Everything is old and classical in the old italian style. But that comes with the ols house. The kitchen is big with a big refridherator. Everything we needed was there and more. All teh herbs, the oils to use. So easy when you arrive. And all the help from the lovely Micaela and her parants. They were there to help us if we had any question. Micaela knows the mountains very well and she organised some nice hikes for us. With so much attention and patience she helped is through the mountains. Coming back at home we feel a little homesick to the nice place in the Apuan Alps. Thank you so much!

Micaela tog all packning både dit och tillbaka.
