It was the first time for me and my bf to use Airbnb but Masaru made it very smooth. He always responded quickly and gave us information needed. The room was clean and Japanese traditional style bed, it will be good experience for foreign people. The place is very quiet and peaceful located in Mitaka city, which is near from Ghibli museum. We did not talk much but they always respect guests' privacy.

Masaru was a very good host and nice to meet. I arrived late in the day, and he picked me up at the station. I was able to get settled in and to the things I needed to do straight away. The room was comfortable and clean, and I had everything I needed. Masaru replied when I had questions and was friendly and helpful. I felt quite comfortable in the house, and the neighborhood is nice. There are a couple of markets, a drugstore, and a restaurant nearby, and a new Starbucks opening soon. The listing description is accurate and helpful. I didn't have any trouble walking to/from the station or using the bus either way and found it easy to get where I wanted in Tokyo from Mitaka station. The neighborhood is a nice respite from the bustle in the city, and the park in the area is great. (There are more shops and restaurants near the station, as well.) I also had a last-minute change to travel plans, and Masaru was very helpful and kind regarding the alternation. I would stay here again and recommend it.

The neighbourhood was alright, it was in a residential area so it was very quiet. It's a few minutes walk from the supermarket and pharmacy, there's a Lawson that's very near the area. The room I stayed at was very simple, it had a desk, mattress and futon all on the floor. There was no ventilation except for a window so sometimes I had to go out for some air because it was getting pretty stuffy. It's pretty far from the station so you either have to walk 30~40 minutes or grab a bus at 220 JPY. He also offers car service at 200 JPY, best if you are carrying heavy baggage.

The room was exactly as advertised although a little farther from the stations than I had thought. My interactions with everyone were pleasant and the nearby bus station and 7-11 are a big plus!

Masaru has a set of house rules which I believed to be very simple and highly fair. He was very easy going and was always open to providing assistance when asked. Additionally, his wife and child were quite friendly, which went a long way in regards to making the stay as stress-free as possible. To top things off, they pretty much just "let me be," and basically commented on nothing. But, I think that's also because I just kept my head down and did my best to not be a disturbance. In other words, I think that if you make the effort to be respectful, you will most likely receive the same in return (at least in this household). The descriptions of the place and the photos provided online were accurate. The house was kept clean, from the room, to the washrooms, to the shower. The neighborhood was also quite clean (but where is it not clean in Japan, right?), and fairly quiet (save for the crickets or whatever insect it is that just can't shut up in the middle of the night). For those who like to stay active while traveling, there is a park nearby (e.g. there's a sturdy bar in which one can do pull-ups, etc.). Also close by is a convenience store (Lawson's) and a grocery store. For those with tight pockets, the grocery store sells well-packaged meals and beverages at very reasonable prices (Tip: come around the later hours to get discounted box-meals!). Mitaka station is not far, meaning you can get to the heart of Tokyo, as well as other places in the GTA (Greater Tokyo Area) quite easily once you become familiar with the transportation system. And lastly, for those of you that have plans of coming to Mitaka specifically for ICU, whatever your reason may be, the institution is an easy 20-25 minute walk from Masaru's "hotel." And that's pretty much it -- yes, it is not a 5-star hotel, but with the great people, along with the cleanliness (not to mention, the favorable location), I would say that the quality you can expect to receive far exceeds the value that you would pay to stay here for the minimum 5-day requirement (i.e. it was well worth it). I hope this post helped! All the best in Japan fellow traveler.

Masaru and his wife were wonderful people and made me feel very comfortable during my stay with them. Masaru picked me up from the nearest train station. The room was simple, Japanese style, but quite comfortable. I would not hesitate to stay there again!
