This is an extremely comfortable and well equipped home with stunning views and a balcony from which to enjoy them. There is a very comfy and cosy den for reading or tv. King size bed and dressing room, comfy double bedroom ensuite. Large yoga room!

hello all,

Welcome to your holiday on the Sheep's Head peninsula. My West Wing is an entire home and it is all yours to enjoy a home away from home experience. I have two separate Airbnb listing at this one address.
2 large bedrooms, a large front room the "dawn ballroom" perfect for yoga dancing and large dinner parties and when the table is extended. There are two bathrooms one upstairs and a downstairs wc and shower wet room. kitchen is large and a delight to cook in. I have designed it and built it while living next door in the cottage "Rent Peace and Quiet and hillwalk" also listed on Airbnb. Guests will have a peaceful tranquil location with spectacular views and it is a delight for anyone who needs to escape the city and just breath. The neighbours are sweet and farming and fishing and arts and crafts types. There are two pubs one has a restaurant and both have really picturesque beer gardens overlooking the harbour. The village of Ahakista is rather tiny with just two pubs an art gallery/coffee shop and garden, a school and a church (all spread out) There are two other villages on the penninsula, Durrus and Kilcrohane and we are halfway between them. There are shops and cafes in both villages. Lots of hill walkers come for easy and unspoilt walking routes called the sheep's head way.

It is best to come by car as there really is very poor public transportation. I have had cycling tour guests who arrived and stayed to rest at the end of their journey.

My place is unique or special as it has a lovely character without the perfection that makes hotels and modern houses boring and soulless. I love it and am very proud of it and I hope you will love it as much as I do.

Thanks for considering my Wild Atlantic way view for your holiday destination.

My husband and I spent a week at Sheila's with our 3 young children. We drove right to it using GPS coordinates on our (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps app. Since we got in super late, Sheila was not there to greet us upon arrival, but left a sweet note and we met her a couple days after. We sat down and got to know each other over a nice meal. She's very friendly and fascinating. The house is in a very quiet location with a spectacular view! The rooms are very spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The wifi was good as long as you were sitting in the right areas. Outside, my kids enjoyed jumping on the trampoline and feeding the cows. The nearby restaurant, Arundel's, was a very pleasant surprise. It had an amazing ambiance and the food was incredible! Everyone on the peninsula was very sweet and made us feel welcome. My only complaint would be that the kitchen was not as tidy as I would've liked. Cooking was a challenge since there were no measuring cups to be found and dishes had to be washed before using.
Americans are the only nation that uses measuring cups to measure food, the rest of the world uses a weighing scales I have one there and I also have measuring cups (especially brought in from America as they don't exist in Europe. I keep them in the kitchen in the drawer for extra kitchen equipment (tidying away clutter). I will leave out on view the measuring cups when I have American guests in future. Some guests think it's very well equipped so it's all a matter of differences of opinions. Last week I had new cleaner who obviously forgot to check the dishwasher so I will have to double check after them next change over but I did do the change over this time myself and it is spotless as I would hope it is for each and every future guest. I took the garden furniture off the balcony as they were a family with a baby and it's off bounds for children and the weather is not suitable for sitting out as we had wild storms just the week before and the furniture was blown off and could have hit a window or someone. There is a full set of garden furniture downstairs below the balcony for the winter season.....The family were lucky to have some unseasonal sunny weather. There is no reason why they could not move a few chairs out like the rocking chairs just inside the door if they liked to sit out. The reason I changed the furniture around is I am a woman and I got a bigger TV for guests so it needed the space where black couch was.

Sheila's place is beautiful! So spacious, and a view to die for. We enjoyed the privacy and tranquility immensely. You can tell she has put a lot of time and thought into the loving restoration of the historic stone cottage. Sheila was easy to communicate with every step of the way, and her directions were spot on. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip!
Thank you, welcome back again! Sheila

Sheilas West Wing is a wonderful rustic cottage in rural West Cork. We loved it. It is everything we hoped for. Comfortable, casual, with stunning views. The people beyond friendly and welcoming. Wonderful food as well as a well poured Guiness within one kilometer. West Wing is clearly an ongoing effort of love with creative and artistic creations within. It is surrounded by cows, sheep, the sea, a wonderful bay and a good starting point to reach all of the desired destinations in southwest Ireland. A great place for us to first be introduced to Ireland. Sheila is a wonderful host. We were wonderfully welcomed by the whole community. Jack and Dee
I am delighted to be getting so many interesting guests from all over the world and with that I can appreciate what I have achieved thus far and with wonderful and helpful constructive suggestions I make my to do list which is gardening/tidy up and next construction of the hot tub in the garden pagoda. The ongoing maintenance and new project is a list getting longer and shorter as I develop my property from a tumble down cottage 10 years ago to a beautiful cosy cottage and a much more spacious West Wing. I encourage people to observe the before photo album. I also like to tell them that almost everything that comes from airbnb guest gets ploughed back into the houses. Like putting in a beautiful stove in the West Wing for toasty winter nights. Thanks Airbnb guests for your continued support.

This was a very nice experience. Sheila was in contact right away and gave very good information about her beautiful place and the way to find it. When we arrived everything was as she said.
Thank you for your nice comments, I agree it is very long and difficult directions so I think I will put a map and more basic instructions and GPS location.

We had an absolutely magical stay at Sheila's cottage on the Sheep's head peninsula. She opened up her heart and home to us in so many ways, making sure we had the best experience as possible. We went on incredible hikes and pasture walks through the area and met so many wonderful people through her! She took us Irish set dancing one night, welcomed us with tea and bread and cheese our first night, and made us feel so at home. The cottage is very cozy and homey, and there is a great nook upstairs for reading, cuddling or doing yoga. There is a washer/dryer, great wifi, a fully stocked kitchen with appliances, hot showers and incredibly comfortable beds. I couldn't recommend her home highly enough, we all can't wait to return!
Hi Girls, I can honestly say I enjoyed your company. Friendly fun ladies. Sheila

We recomed this host to any one who is looking for quiet place with nice view and some space for bbq. Realy enjoyed sitting area downstairs.

The location is wonderful, Ideal for hiking as some trails pass nearby and there is a great view from the house. Sheila was very welcoming and attentive during the stay. The house is well built and has everything you really need kitchen utensils washer dryer etc.. but inside the layout seems to be lacking a focal point especially if there are more than two. The stove (bring your own wood) is in kitchen where there is a sofa. But the large living room only has a old small sofa and a large dining table which is only place for all to gather. The TV is on the landing upstairs with only room for two on dated uncomfortable furniture. In general there could be more attention to detail. Bathroom upstairs needs locks or bolts. Some furniture, cushions and curtains etc. need replacing and curtains or blinds put in the bedrooms We like getting up early but not at the crack of dawn! Also a bit of window cleaning wouldn't go a miss. But we did enjoy our stay and the price was ok but a few small changes would make it perfect.

Hello! I'm a new mum and a teacher of Technical Drawing and Wood work. I like sea swimming, hill walking, dancing all sorts including Irish Set dancing, Salsa and Swing dancing.

I've had all kinds of house guests over the years: WWOOFers, Helpex-ers, Family and lots Friends. Now I'll add the airbnb guests to the long list of happy visitors. I lead guided hillwalks on the Sheeps Head Way.

When I was 22 I backpacked around the world, for about 2 years. Then I returned to Ireland a began my studies as a Woodwork and Technical drawing teacher.
