Our home is located in the neighborhood called Palermo in the center of Montevideo on a lovely tree-lined street. It is close to great restaurants, shops, the beach, the large city park. It is 5 blocks to the Rambla and to the beach called Playa Rameriz. It is ideally located half-way between the two main touristic areas of Montevideo, the Old City and Pocitos. Our neighborhood is known for the Carnaval parade. On Sundays, you will be able to enjoy the local drum shows that happen in random parts of our neighborhood. Also, on Sunday morning, you can walk to Tristan Narvaja market which is only a few blocks away.
It is a three-bedroom home built in the early 1900's that my husband has spent the last 4 years remodeling himself. It is similar to what a town house would be in the US. We have a separate, private entrance on the street. There is one flight of stairs to access our house. We have neighbors living underneath us. When you come up the staircase, there is a huge skylight that provides great natural light to all rooms of the house. It is a very unique house with this skylight feature!
On the main level: Two of the bedrooms have balconies. There is another bedroom (double bed) and an additional bedroom on the mezzanine (double bed). The ceilings are very high, 15 feet. Our kitchen is very modern, it opens into the foyer/bar area. We love to cook! And eat! There is also a formal dining room. In the living room is also a projector room with a projector to hook up your computer to watch movies and TV online. There is no TV in our house as we watch it through our computers. We've got a high speed fiber optic internet and wifi connection. We also have a piano if you like to play.
The partially covered rooftop terrace and garden is our favorite part of the house. This terrace is accessible by one double flight of stairs. We use it year-around and cook most of our meals up there as well. This covered sun room has a kitchen equipped with a gas cook top, sink and BBQ (parrilla), table and chairs to seat 6-8 people and a kids table. It is great to have a meal up there enjoying a glass of wine and a sea view! We'd ask that during your stay, it would be wonderful if you watered our plants. We'll be happy to do the same at our home.
If you come with children, we have all sorts of toys and equipment for them (bed, highchair, toys, play table, changing table, etc).

There is a renovated toilet on the main floor.
The shower (with a sink and urinal) is located on the half level of the house (going up to the terrace). It is connected to the solar hot water heater.
Note: There is a second bathroom with toilet and sink on the main floor, that is functional but unfinished, we normally only use the sink in this bathroom.
The house has been renovated by us, but there are a couple cosmetic renovations that are ongoing that may or may not be done by the time you stay in our house - the flight of stairs when accessing our house from the street and to renovate the second bathroom on the main floor.
Electricity and heating expenses are the guests' responsibility. There are electric heaters and gas heaters on rollers to move throughout the house. There is an AC/heater unit in the master bedroom/projection room. And a wood fire oven in the foyer room with the skylight. Water and internet are included in the rate.
As apartment owners, we maintain the highest cleanliness standards possible with our apartment. In order to provide the best rate possible to our renters, we choose not to apply a cleaning fee. Upon doing this, we expect the guests to leave our apartment in a tidy condition - meaning, all dishes need to be washed, garbage will be collected and disposed of, old food items need to be thrown away. We really appreciate your attention to this, if not tidy upon check-out a $50 fee will collected upon checkout.
Electricity Charges and Green Consciousness
We charge for electricity at cost to encourage our guests to use the air conditioning and electricity responsibly. Our guests normally use between $1.50 US to $5 US per day. Upon check in and check out an electric reading is taken. The cost of usage as determined by the Electric Company will then be charged and paid at check-out in Uruguayan Pesos. We would like our vacationers to be energy conscious and responsible for their energy use. We furnished this apartment green. We have accommodated the apartment with LED lights and energy efficient appliances and light bulbs and insulation to conserve energy, help the planet, and your wallet. A high efficiency air conditioning and electric heating unit has been installed in the apartment for our guests' comfort, it offers 40 percent less consumption than a regular AC, we hope our guests will appreciate this amenity.
Check-in and Check-out
A check-in and check-out time will be scheduled. If possible, we are able to be flexible on the check-in and check-out times. It will need to be agreed upon at least 48 hours before your arrival date, additional notice is appreciated. We will meet you at the apartment at the scheduled check-in time. We will show you around the apartment and answer any questions you may have about Montevideo and things to do in the area. Early morning or late night check-in and check-outs (outside of regular operating hours 7 am to 9 pm) will be charged at an additional cost of $30 USD.

We are a French, American couple from Burgundy and Montana that relocated to Montevideo, Uruguay. We have two sweet daughters, Pénélope and Talia.
