Facing true South in a one acre garden, overlooking the village, beaches and Punta Cometa. Its design inspired by majestic panoramic views of the ocean and night skies; perfect for a relaxing retreat, for birdwatchers, stargazers and photographers.
Before building Casa de la Herbolaria, the owner, an herbalist, spent two years camping on the land; to let herself be inspired by the surrounding beauty and to learn of the sun and wind patterns.
From almost everywhere in the house, one can see the sunrise or the sunset. Like the round shape of the sun, the space is filled with gentle curves; to better circulate from the kitchen counters to the couch to the bathrooms to the plunge bath and the encircling stone walls but also to create a feminine and sensuous energy.
On the top floor
A master bedroom with a Queen size bed, in a cathedral thatched roof for an almost constant breeze.
En suite bathroom with a traditional wash basin and a vast ocean view from the toilet...
A small and private terrace for sun bathing or stargazing or yoga.
On the main floor
A well equipped screened in kitchen, with 2 small counters for eating.
A lounging couch and hamac facing the ocean and a small cooling pool.
A full bathroom with again a view of the ocean.
A vast terasse with dining area with its bread/pizza oven and grill.
An outdoor shower and sun/star bed, ideal after the beach and before a plunge in the bath.
A small mexican style clothes washing and drying area, with another nice view of the ocean.
Guests have access to the whole house and its one acre garden of indigenous and ornamental plants .
The owner will receive you in the winter months. The rest of the year, her trusted accomplices will make sure that you are well settled into the house and will be available for any questions.
Most days the temperature raises to at least 30c, so it is best to stay in the shade during lunch hour. Or do like many do here, have a siesta!
The small pool is a joy to soak in especially at sunset hour, but must be emptied (automatic irrigation system to the trees) and filled only when the town water comes in; on mondays, wednesdays and fridays. This takes approximately 2 hours each time.
What to bring
Sun hat and screen, beach towel or sarong.
Binocular and or camera
The house is set in a family neighborhood and so we ask that you keep noises low. The ocean is our music, sometimes coming from both sides of the Punta Cometa, each with their own harmony.
House towels are not beach towels, please keep them at home and out of the sun.
The roof is made of palm and is highly flammable, so no smoking or candles upstairs.
The septic is comprise of a 'biodigestor' and so we ask that you do not put toilet paper in the toilets.
We appreciate that guests use our recycling bins for all glass, metal and plastic and use our compost pile in the garden for organic waste.
Finally we ask that you treat our home as if it was your home, with respect and love.
