Noteable comments based on guest feedback:
* Full breakfest are Sat&Sun only when we are home. Otherwise we work & its a self serve on your own style. Homemade granola & all the fixings with coffee&tea's will be avail for you to help yourself to.
* The house is over 150 years old with original floor's. Thus - she can be pretty creaky. Escpecially in the quiet evenings. If you are a light sleeper -
even a tip toe to the bathroom has potential to wake you. Plugs might be a good idea.
* We have a/c - however - real old house issue's here again with terrible insulation. Even with full ac on the upstairs bedrooms have been known to be a tad warm during the heat waves. windows open & fans in the rooms seem to have made 99% of our guests comfortable but there's that 1% . If you need full air conditioning and a climate controlled room, we are probably not the place for you.
* Taxi's & other transit options are very limited & slow around here, prepare accordingly. We help out when we can but not reliably consistant.
* We recently aquired a new puppy(July/17) Patrick the pup seems likes a winner. Loves people and to play and we think we have the barking under control. He's a small fellow, we think a chi/russel cross. Sorry we are now hypocrites with our no guest dogs policy but we imagine you undertsand.
Our Kitchen and its amenities are a common space so feel free to bring your own supplies. Our lovely screened sunroom at the front of the house is the perfect place to start the day, or any time of day really.
Wireless internet is provided but don't expect city speeds. At time of posting we do not have a common computer for you to use. We do have 1 TV in the common entertainment room but not in the bedrooms and no cable or satellite. Thousands of movies on dvds, or a hdmi cable is ready to be hooked up to your device to our nice wall mounted screen if you wish to relax on the big couch/chaise in the common room. Or retire to your own room with your own computer and feel free to stream on our wireless. Our hope, however, is that you didn't come to watch tv, but we can certainly appreciate vegging out in front of a screen after a day in the county, so the option is available. A book case is stacked with a wide range of subject matter if you wish to curl up with one of our books. Lots of places here to retreat for peace.
Our backyard comes complete with a fire pit and horseshoe pit and a gas bbq is avail for your use anytime if you are not out and about eating at any of the many lovely establishments in the County.
The outdoor shower world should be complete and ready for guest use depending on time of your arrival.
New, quality Raleigh multi speed cruiser bikes are available for guest use or bring your own. Biking is very popular in the county but please drive with caution.
Either or both owners Chris and Jen may or may not be on hand for questions in person. For helpful tips or suggestions about the county and their property, a rule book with house rules and plenty of tips is provided in each room. We are however always a text or phone call away.
We can be as accessible as you wish. Our loft is designed for our privacy so as to give our guests the level of privacy they desire.
We will always be only a text away to answer any of your questions.
ADDED VALUE GOODNESS:
Like to paddle? We have a nice package for you. Chris's very special canoe(see pic) & all the tools you will need to enjoy a day or afternoon on the water and on a slice of beautiful beach, not packed with tourists. We have a very special, almost private place we can share with you. This package - if booked in advance and based on availabilty (chris might be tripping somewhere) will include us delivering & picking you up. It's a short easy paddle and we assure you a beautiful day. A lovely picnic lunch is also recomended and will be ready to go with you. Please ask us for further details on this adventure.
Off-Season - It is pretty quiet around here in the winter but as the county grows in popularity so does its winter visitors & activities. Being so close to great trails, we welcome all outdoor winter enthusiasts. We can accommodate winter visitors no problem. The ones have visited us have LOVED it. Go see the reviews.
Being in the country we are on a septic and well system so water and water waste need to be mindfully respected and we inform you of more specific instructions upon arrival. None of which will hinder your experience in any way and we are sure you will be more than happy with our facilities.
You will see a lot of New Orleans in our home and we live by one of our fave New Orlean's mottos "Be Nice or Leave!" extra exclamation point!! A strict no smoking policy in effect in or near any of the building's. If you do need to smoke, please do so by the fire pit and use it to dispose of your cigarette butts as they are just as much ground litter and any other discarded item.
At this point we have a no pet rule but if you are in a bind and your pet is well trained, quiet and obedient you can inquire.
The property is not outfitted for small children. We are more of an adult property both inside and out. I'm sure your children are lovely but leave them AND YOUR PETS with the grandparents and come enjoy a peaceful "adult time" stay.
Sound carries around here in the still night so no outdoor loud rowdy late night fire's.
We are very excited to share our place and the county with you and ask that you respect both. It is our home and we love it very much.
Chris & Jen moved to the County when their heavens collided, bringing them to their little slice of paradise smack dab in the heart of Prince Edward County. Our dream is to share it with you. We expect you are like minded, socially responsible & respectful adults of our planet. Chris's background is a eclectic range of work & travel experience. Originally from Barrie, ON. He has spent half his life in or around music. Jen's roots are planted in Kenora, ON with a large part of her professional work career as a clothing designer in Vancouver. We have put our passions to work in our century farmhouse and attached property that you must simply experience for yourself to appreciate. We are mad lovers of music, travel, nature, conservation and each other! As a guest you can expect the utmost respect for you, & your property. If you are hosting us, then expect all of the above in return for the services you provide. We have several motto's. Our home motto is borrowed from an artist in New Orleans Dr. Bob say's "Be Nice or Leave" and so do we.
