At first glance, the house looked really nice and clean. It was a bit small, but the location was great and we were literally a ten minute walk (even if you walk slow) from the beach. The hosts were great at picking up calls and responding to our requests. However, the place had many problems including cockroaches and faulty pipes. Also, there is only one shower, and it does take a while for everyone to shower if you're coming back from the beach in a big group. In conclusion, I would not recommend this place to anyone unless you want to be constantly worried about pipes, clogged showers and bugs getting in your clothes.
Day One - Move-in
We took a late flight, so we arrived at Canary past midnight. They were very accommodating and agreed to meet up with us at anytime. They were very prompt with the phone calls, so it was very easy to reach them at any time of the day. They met us in front of their apartment, led us up, and thoroughly explained how the apartment worked. There were 2 single beds, 2 queen beds, and one sofa bed, so we were able to accommodate 8 people. The place looked clean enough until we went to the kitchen. We saw two or three COCKROACHES crawling around on the kitchen floor. They said that they were going to bring spray for us the next day, so we didn't decide to push it.
My friend was the first one to take a shower and after just running the water for five minutes, she found it clogged. It was so bad that she had to wash her feet in the sink because it was submerged in dirty water from the shower. I contacted the host and they came promptly, but they weren't able to solve the problem until the next day when they came again. Lena also gave us Raid to spray ourselves, and we practically drowned the kitchen in it. However, we still found cockroaches on a regular basis throughout our stay there.
We got a complaint from our neighbor downstairs saying that our shower was leaking through to their house. From then on, we weren't allowed to shower until our host came to fix it. Because we were out the whole day, he wasn't able to come until at night the next day. He came at a time that was convenient for the both of us to fix the pipes, and luckily we were able to shower that night.
Day 4 - Checkout
In the morning when we tried to shower and clean-up, we found out that the water was cut. As a result we had to use hand sanitizer and drinking water to wash our hands, which was pretty gross since we were trying to clean the house and take out the garbage.
