Comfort in a great neighborhood! Just a 7 minute walk from the orange and blue metro line (which can take you downtown and to the Old Port within 15-20 minutes) and a 10 minute walk from the famous Jean Talon market. Restos, bars, shops and cafés!
Beautiful unique apartment in a great neighborhood! Just a 7 minute walk from the orange and blue metro line (which can take you downtown and to the Old Port within 15-20 minutes) and a 10 minute walk from the famous Jean Talon market, my apartment is conveniently located in La Petite-Patrie (right next to Little Italy) on a residential street where you can usually find a parking spot somewhere on the block. There is also a bixi station nearby which makes for a true urbanite experience if you decide to use this fabulous method of transportation.
The one bedroom apartment is of a modest size but is not to be underestimated. It is on the third and top floor of a century old building and a typical Montreal spiraling staircase must be climbed before entering. There are two skylights which make for a very cheerful vibe during the day and many lamps and dimmers for a more romantic ambiance in the evening. The kitchen window overlooks the belltower of the beautiful Saint-Arsène church which makes for great scenery over morning tea.
I have a very comfortable firm extra-wide queen size bed as well as a comfortable couch in the living room which can be set up as an extra sleeping space once the back pillows are removed (however as a previous guest mentioned, there is no privacy in the living room as it is connected to the kitchen and the hallway which is a common layout of old lengthwise Montreal dwellings). I also have a small sink in the bedroom (which I use all the time), in case you are thirsty for a glass of water during the night.
Many of the typical century old apartments in this area have been gutted and opened up into modern lofts so here you will have the rare chance to experience the original unchanged space just like the first working class settlers of La Petite-Patrie. Every corner of this apartment has been carefully renovated to embrace it's old character while adding the comfort of modern living through many functional hacks and details. This spot will definitely add to the authenticity of your Montreal experience :)
Thanks for looking!
The apartment and the back balcony. If you will be using the washing machine please let me know as the door latch of the washer has recently broke, and a cord has been attached in its place.
I will be staying nearby so I am readily available if you may need anything!
Check-in and out is flexible and can be arranged to suit your needs, however if there is another guest arriving on the day of your departure I would greatly appreciate to have the apartment back for 11 a.m. so that I can prepare it for the next guest.
WARNING: This is a third floor apartment and a winding outside staircase must be climbed. Please reserve only if you are comfortable climbing up two floors (I promise it is worth the climb however :) )
This is my home so I will appreciate the following to be respected:
1. Please take off your shoes when possible
2. Please no parties or loud music inside
3. Please no smoking indoors. There is a small balcony next to the kitchen for this purpose.
4. Please put everything back in it's original place.
5. Generally I don't allow pets (I am allergic to cats ironically) however if you have a dog who is tame and won't mind staying out of the bedroom and office area then they are welcome! Also some dogs may be scared of climbing up a spiral staircase so you may have to carry them up.
6. Treat my apartment as if it were yours :-)
