This gorgeous, renovated historic captain's house plus sunny cottage comfortably sleeps 9 guests, sits in a pine forest in the middle of the Fox Island Conservation area, has salt marsh/water views, and is a 5 minute drive to Wellfleet beaches and fresh water ponds. The captain's house has a large living room; a library/study ideal for writers; separate sitting room.
Upstairs in the Captain's house there are three bedrooms: a master with a queen-sized bed; a bedroom with a large double bed; and a bedroom with a single bed. Downstairs there is a bedroom with a single bed and an attached full bathroom.
The recently built sunny cottage has a queen size bed, a full bathroom and its own beautiful deck. The cottage is 40 feet from the main house and is very private.
The captain's house has a large eat-in kitchen wing with new kitchen and deck looking out at spectacular wooded and salt marsh views. Kitchen table seats 8, with two additional seats at kitchen counter.
This house is perfect for an extended family who wants to immerse themselves in nature, hike on conservation trails through woods and along the salt marsh, gaze at the incredible bird life, and have total silence. The house is beautifully decorated by the artist/owner.
The captain's house has internet and cable, two full bathrooms and an outdoor, hot/cold fenced-in shower.
Walk out the back door to reach conservation trails; 5 minute drive to beaches and fresh water ponds; 5 minute drive to town of Wellfleet; 20 minute drive to Provincetown; nearby drive-in movie theater, great restaurants and family entertainment.
Owners meet guests at the house briefly to tour the house and give keys.
House was built by a sea captain in 1800 and has a history of artists and writers living there since the 1930s. House is reached by driving down a 1/4 mile, easily drivable sand road off of Route 6. Hence it is totally quiet.
Tenants are asked to be respectful of the premises which includes fragile artwork and books. No smoking or animals.
