This unique, spacious, lakefront property has a spectacular private sandy beach, kayaks, a swim platform and two buoys. Private sleeping cabins are scattered in the forest near the cozy 3-bedroom home. Includes tennis court, large meadows and private trails.
Great for large families, the property is usually available to renters in late May, June, September, and early October. While the place can accommodate up to 24 people in eight bedrooms, but it's most comfortable for groups of 12 to 18.
I'm part of a large family which shares this special property on Tahoe's west shore. We rent it just a few weeks each year. The property is ideal for sharing with several families and is most comfortable for groups of 12 to 18 people.
The buildings are clean, cozy and somewhat rustic. The surroundings are spectacular, with spacious meadows, a large sandy beach, a private tennis court and many nearby hiking trails.
There's a three-bedroom home with kitchen, living, and dining rooms. In addition, there are five private bedrooms in four satellite sleeping cabins. Four bedrooms have California King beds and all the beds are fairly new and comfortable.
The home has a large deck and picnic tables for outdoor meals with a view, 2 barbecues and a ping-pong table. It's very private. Our neighbors' homes are not visible from the home or it's deck.
If you're looking for a place with a private beach, superb natural beauty, quiet and privacy right on the shores of Lake Tahoe and you don't need a professionally-decorated house or a fancy kitchen, you will likely love staying at this "Rubicon Bay Gem."
Renters may use all rooms, kayaks, rowboats, the swim platform and our canoe, as well as the tennis court and outdoor ping-pong table.
Use of the 2 available buoys is by prior arrangement only. Buoy rental is $400 per buoy per rental, up to 1 week.
Completely private with a caretaker nearby. Owners are available via mobile phone.
Potential renters, please note – We ask that you:
- provide three references
- provide your phone number and other contact information so that we may call you to describe the property and our expectations of renters

The kitchen is small but functional and fully equipped with all the basics, from pots and pans to spices, oil and vinegar. The kitchen has a refrigerator, stove, oven, toaster oven, microwave, dishwasher, 2 coffee makers, coffee bean grinder, utensils, mixer, blender, cookie sheets, cutting boards, baking pans, serving bowls, pitchers, storage containers, etc. Dish soap, paper towels, dish towels, dishwasher soap, napkins, coffee filters, garbage bags and recycling bags are provided. The cupboards are stocked with basic herbs & spices, oil & vinegar, some sugar and flour, tea bags, aluminum foil, sandwich bags and other basics.
We ask renters to replace kitchen basics they've used up so that the next occupants will arrive to a similarly fully-stocked kitchen. Renters are expected to wash, dry and put away all dishes prior to checking out.
The bedrooms in the satellite sleeping cabins are unheated, with blankets and down comforters provided for the beds. Three of the sleeping cabin bedrooms are fully enclosed and usually retain warmth all night long. The other two sleeping cabins are partially screened and can be cold at night, while providing a "glamping" experience of sleeping in comfortable beds with the forest all around.
Laundry facilities include 2 washers and 2 dryers. A second refrigerator is located in the laundry cabin, along with space for storing coolers.
4-night minimum rental.
We expect our guests to be quiet and respectful of this special property, it's amenities, and it's neighbors.

A limited number of life jackets are provided and must be used when boating on the lake. Life jackets must be secured when not in use so they don't blow into the lake. Large groups and groups with small children are expected to bring additional life jackets so there are enough for all guests of all sizes. (Life jackets tend to disappear, becoming lost and/or blown away, so we cannot guarantee having enough life jackets for larger groups.)
Boats must be pulled well up from the shore at night.
Dogs are allowed – but not cats, due to allergies.
Please clean up after your dog.
Playing cards and board games are provided and renters are expected to leave these things intact and organized.
Renters may not use the owners' waterskis or ski boats.
Due to California brown bears in the area who have learned how to break into homes and cars, FOOD MAY NOT BE LEFT OUTDOORS, IN CARS, OR IN THE SATELLITE SLEEPING CABINS. Coolers should not be stored in cars. All windows & doors must be securely closed when leaving the house.
Bear boxes are provided for garbage. All household garbage must be emptied and placed in the bear boxes by 8 am on Friday mornings for garbage pickup on Fridays.
Blue recycling bags are provided for recycling of paper, plastic and glass. The garbage pickup service will segregate garbage bags from recycling bags. Please recycle, and please use the blue bags ONLY for recycling.
Laundry facilities include 2 washers and 2 dryers, with laundry soap provided. Renters are asked to start laundering a few loads of towels before their departure so that our cleaning crew can arrive to a manageable amount of laundry between occupants.
