Cozy queen bedroom w. wood shingle wall, open beam ceiling, natural decor, spectacular ocean view when it's clear out. Comfortable California-style home. Hike/bike in nearby redwoods, drive to coast, valley, or local wineries. Wake up to quiet. For now, the back deck is under construction so there's some dust and noise. 20 mi to Santa Cruz via Hwy 17 South. 13 mi via 17 N to town of Los Gatos. Full bath (shower in tub) next to bedroom, for your private use. Share kitchen.
On a ridge in the Santa Cruz Mountains, private bedroom with a queen bed, cotton sheets, and comfortable furnishings, that looks out on a spectacular coastal view of Monterey Bay. Bathroom with tub and shower is right next to bedroom in your own wing. The four-acre property is close to walking trails that take you deep into a redwood forest, bike trails in the Soquel Demonstration Forest, or a 20-minute drive to the Santa Cruz coast. Wineries within a few miles in any direction.
Amazing view that changes with the light and the weather.
Bathroom with shower / tub next to bedroom. Must be able to navigate a few stairs (entryway and 3 steps down to the bedroom) and be OK with our cat Charcoal.
Wireless internet. Satellite tv with basic cable.
You won't hear traffic, instead you will hear the chickens next door. Private and quiet.
Homey, casual living. You need a car to get here, no nearby public transportation.
There's a store about 3 miles away that is open until 8 PM. A few restaurants are in the mountains. Most are either near the coast (Soquel, Capitola), south on Highway 17 to Scotts Valley, or north on 17 to Los Gatos (13 miles).
The room is good for one or two people. If there is a third, there's an extra fee and they can sleep on the comfortable living room sofa, for short visits.
Other notes: You can take route 17 from San Jose or Santa Cruz to the Summit exit to get here.
It's 45 min - 1 hour from here to the Monterey Peninsula, Carmel, and Pacific Grove.
Kitchen, living room, and deck access. (Deck is being reconstructed so it will depend on which parts are safe to use).
I chat with them a little, answer questions, find out about who they are, and pretty much leave them on their own. I may be here in a different part of the house, sharing the kitchen and deck, or I may be out and they have the entire downstairs to themselves.
They say this is near Ben Lomond. It is not. (Just saw it in the listing.)
You might want to plan your food and bring it with you, or you can drive down to the local store before 8 PM. Also there are great restaurants within 20-30 minutes. I can offer light breakfast items like coffee, tea, cereal, usually juice or fruit, and toast. We can confirm based on your preferences.
Be nice to cat. Clean up in kitchen. Be pleasant. If you wish to help out, take sheets off your bed and leave linens in the basket for me to wash.
Smoking is allowed outside with an ashtray. Great care is required because fire hazard is high.
If you don't see what you need, please ask. Enjoy your visit to the Santa Cruz Mountains!
Relaxed, professional mountain homeowner, in my own business, flexible hours. I have a cat, like the quiet of the mountains, follow world news and ideas. Friends and interests all around the world. I like to take walks in the woods nearby my house. Taste in music: blues, rock, soul, jazz, nature, birds. Good friends in the neighborhood make home even better.
(I say I speak French...that means, limited in vocabulary, can speak with you a little).
