We want to help make your visit to DC perfect. We believe we have created a beautiful, comfy and quiet oasis, right in the heart of the most happening area of the city!
Guests have a separate entrance to the garden level of the house, and the apartment is all yours! There is no shared space.
Entrance is accessed by touchpad electronic deadbolt, which allows 24-hour check-in. Guests are given a unique PIN code, which is the "key" to the apartment. The PIN code also serves as your code for arming and disarming the security system.
When we are in town, we are available to help you with any needs: reservations, DC insider tips, recommendations, orientation to the neighborhood and the like. Penny is available by text, call or email from 6 am to 11 pm daily, and any time of day or night for emergencies. In short, we will not bother you during your stay, but will be available if needed!
We live upstairs and, as such, there will be day-to-day noise (mostly footsteps) especially in the morning and evening. We also have a small dog. She is old and friendly, but she does bark on occasion, which can be heard in the apartment. She is never physically in the apartment. We rise at about 6 am and retire at midnight. We are very aware of guests in the apartment and try to minimize any noise, but please keep these notes and hours in mind if you are sensitive to noise.
Penny is a pastry chef and, if she is in town and time permits, will provide you with a small welcome treat. If you will be celebrating an occasion during your stay, she also can create a custom cake or other goody to complete your celebration. Inquire directly for options or ideas!
For guest comfort, mattresses are encased in zippered, waterproof, dustproof, bug proof covers, then topped with waterproof mattress pads under the sheets. Bedding is sanitized between guests.
Please be courteous to us and to future guests - treat the apartment as if it were your own home (unless you treat your own home poorly!)
No smoking, illegal drugs/activities.
No parties, events or overnight guests. The total number of guests staying overnight in the apartment must be indicated on the reservation (MAX of 4). Please let us know if you plan to have daytime guests or visitors. If we see people coming and going, for your security and ours, we would like to know that they are supposed to be there.
If something has been broken or stained, please let us know immediately. It is much easier to fix something right away than to find a surprise that we have to frantically address as new guests are arriving.
To help us keep costs down, temperature is controlled by smart thermostat. If you wish to adjust the temperature while you are home, feel free to do so. However, please set it back to its scheduled program if you plan to be out all day.
Check-in and check-out times are firm. If you need an early or late check-in/out each is a $25 fee and has to be approved (we are not always able to offer it, for example, if another guest is arriving or departing on the same day.) Please request if needed.
Please refer to the house manual for specifics about where to find things, how things operate, and what to do upon departure.
Have fun, enjoy your stay in the apartment and our beautiful city!
