A well appointed, newly renovated fully self contained studio apartment. Close to cafes, restaurants, access to the city but quiet and private.
The Writer's Den has a queen sized bed and a single sofa bed. It has a kitchen/sitting area, a bedroom area, and an en suite bathroom with shower (no bath).
The building that houses the two studio apartments was originally the Jones Family Hotel, built in 1884. Now it is a mix of residential and commercial premises. The apartment is one of two in the back of the building, accessed through a side gate into a courtyard with a beautiful jacaranda tree. The other apartment is listed as the Artist's Studio.
The Darling Street Apartments, Rozelle, are between the vibrant, bohemian Balmain and the Italian area of Leichhardt. On the Lilyfield side of Victoria Road, they are ideally situated for public transport. 4km from the city centre, 2km from Darling Harbour, and 30 minutes from the airport.
The apartment is on the groundfloor and on one level, making access easy. They open onto a quiet and private courtyard with a large jacaranda tree. The sandstone walls block the bustle of Darling Street. Quiet and spacious, each apartment is equipped to offer a home away from home for visiting friends and relatives, holiday makers enjoying a city escape, and business people who want a little bit more than a hotel room.
Buses run regularly from the nearest intersection to the city. Buses also connect with ferries.
The apartment is self contained with cooking facilities and a private bathroom so guests have complete privacy. There are chairs and a table that belong to the Writers Den outside the apartment in the courtyard.
There are facilities to leave luggage for a later check out if required.
I live 10 minutes away. I love to meet with guests and I am always contactable by phone. But I do not live there and guests have complete privacy.
Terms and conditions
Minimum booking is 2 nights mid January to mid December. During the high season of mid December to mid January the minimum booking is seven nights.
A non-refundable deposit of 50% is required to secure the booking.
Cancellation less than one month prior forfeits the deposit, less $100 admin fee. Payment in full is required two weeks before arrival. EFT, Mastercard, Visa, cheque or cash accepted.
Check-in time is 3pm, check-out is by 10am. However, do ask if you would like to vary this and we will do what we can.
Linen is supplied.

Originally from the UK, I have lived in Sydney now for over 30 years. Some years ago I opened an art gallery. Some of the works I collected hang in the apartments now
We closed the gallery the other year so we could travel more.
I started the apartments before the gallery as a place for visiting family and friends. Then I listed them and I have been busy ever since. I love having the apartments and meeting guests who are often visiting relatives in the area. People come back time and again and become friends.
