Are you interested in raising backyard chickens, gardening, composting, making your own pasta/bread/yogurt, etc? You don't have to live on a farm to do it. Stay with us and see how easy it is! A quiet, peaceful home just minutes from downtown. Enjoy a complimentary continental breakfast every morning including HOME-MADE yogurt, assorted pastries, toast, and fresh fruit. Depending on the time of year, there may be blueberries, plums, apples, and figs from our yard.
Our house is in a quiet, safe neighborhood in west Salem surrounded by beautiful wine country and Christmas tree farms. It's a short drive over the bridge to downtown Salem, about 60 miles north to Portland, 60 miles south to Eugene, or 50 miles west to the coast. We are world travelers, especially Europe and enjoy helping other travelers. We love to garden and cook (mostly Italian).
You will have your own room equipped with wi-fi, an empty dresser, a desk, a window that opens, nightstand, queen sized bed, a basket full of tourist information and a closet with hangers. You also have a private bathroom with a shower just outside your bedroom door and curtains in the hall for privacy. If you need to borrow a fan, ironing board, hair dryer, umbrella, ice chest, beach chairs, etc., just ask!
We love to travel and enjoy helping other travelers. We can assist with information about transportation, events, local wineries, and so forth (or leave you alone to explore on your own). If interested, we can show you how to raise backyard chickens, garden, compost, make your own pasta, etc. Learn how to create your own little urban homestead by staying with us! We recycle here, as well as compost, and utilize the chickens for natural pest control and manure for the gardens.
This is my only listing and you are my only guest. This is a hosted site where we are available to help, advise, and feed you! Everyone is welcome in our home! We don't own a television. Instead we usually watch Netflix on our tablet in bed in the early evening before retiring for the evening. This leaves the rest of the house available for your exclusive use - but just knock if you need anything.
Please respect our privacy and our belongings. And quiet time is after 9 pm. Thank you!
My husband and I are professional 50-somethings planning to retire in Italy in a few years. We are world travelers and especially love Europe. When we retire we hope to open a small B&B in Sicily so hosting on AirBNB now while still in the United States will provide us with good experience. Other than traveling, we enjoy gardening, cooking, tennis, dancing, and red wine. We have one dog and 4 pet hens for the fresh eggs they provide. I led the fight to legalize backyard chickens in Oregon's capitol city in 2008 and currently teach chicken-raising classes. Learn how to create your own little urban homestead by staying with us. If you/re interested, I can show you how to raise chickens or make your own pasta/bread/yogurt. Just ask!
