I have stayed in a handful of airbnb's and always had a positive experience. In the past I have always dealt with the owners themselves-who are the ones that run their airbnb site, which in this case it is NOT the owners running the airbnb. Dealing with the property management and not the owners themselves is why i would choose not to rent ever again from Vacation Rental Authority. I imagine that there are people that have a decent experience, but ours was not that. Let me start out by saying the home is beautiful and is as advertised. The home was also clean and tidy. That was not the issue with the stay. First off we realized when getting settled in that there is no cable or satellite tv. We called and stated that the website advertises this and they said they would give us a call back-no call ever. Friday was a downpour rain and we were stuck inside most of the day. Luckily, someone in our family had dish anywhere and we hooked up tv from our computer. I understand that TV is not generally something you do on vacation, but when you have a day where you are stuck inside-this is ESSENTIAL. Our AC was broke our first day we arrived and since our check in was at 4 pm- we did not realize that it wasn't working until about 6:30 and the temp inside the home kept increasing until it was about 80 degrees. One of the main reasons we chose this rental was because it had AC and we weren't sure how the weather would be. We called the next morning and they said they would send someone out. He didn't come until about 3:30 that day and looked at it and said for some reason it has no power? We also had several lightbulbs that were out and not replaced. He was supposed to return with light bulbs and something to fix the AC but he never did. We were in town for a wedding so naturally like most rentals/hotels (and with traveling) you have wrinkly clothes and would need to iron-no ironing board or iron. There was also no salt and pepper and we had to run back to the store to get this since we assumed this would be a given staple in the amenities. It's too bad that the owners don't run their own airbnb page, i would suggest they find a new property management company. As for myself, i think i have now been burned with working with a PMC and most likely only rent from owners in the future.
This home is amazing! Spotless, great location, beautifully appointed, loved the fact that it had twin beds - kids generally prefer not to share a bed! Company managing property didn't send access code or additional contract they wanted signed before our arrival, good thing we happened upon cleaning crew as we arrived and they were able to provide code.
